>>64017786Yeah not a terrible graphic and you're right on principle, but a couple of things. 1) We gotta prep for the big larp which means active suppressor retention is a priority. A baffle strike is a big kit failure, likely totally destroying the can (must remove, now you're loud), messing up the POI (must remove, now you're loud) etc
That being the case, keeping the can secure on the gun is a pretty big priority, so active retention then becomes a priority. The vast majority of suppressor mounting systems have some sort of taper to center and align the can as well as to seal gas. Calling passive taper mount only setups "taper mounts" is a bit of a misnomer IMO, and they should just be called, passive taper mounts.
Second thing, 2) while the weight savings are there, they're not as big as that graphic indicates. The YHM Kurz Ti mount by itself is 1.15oz, and the YHM Kurz muzzle devices are 2-3oz generally around 2.5oz, pics related.
So okay the Comstock setup is 2.6oz, but the YHM Kurz Ti setup is 3.5-4.0oz or so, and yes 1-1.5oz on the front end of the gun is something I would like to avoid, having active retention of the suppressor (spring loaded detents PLUS taper friction seal) is a big priority as I've explained, and there are other places to make up that 1-1.5oz or so, such as a Ti gas block, rail, or the suppressor itself.
