it'll supposedly arm the new IMBT, aka the italian KF51 variant
more importantly, they also announced the 120mm Vulcano, a GPS + INS + laser/IR tank guided round, allowing MBTs to be able to hit NLOS at a range of 10km
I think that's a first

Not an MBT, but I think the ZBD-04A has a bastion variant that is FNF top attack, not exactly the same, but it can shoot it and dip behind cover before it hits.

Instead of inventing new meme guns, they should just toss a 155 on there and make some APFSDS shells. Then you'll have direct and indirect fire capability and tons of shared components.

Italian constitution explicitly says Italy can't wage offensive wars.
Besides, it's not like they're under imminent threat: the most imperialist in their vicinity is France, and the border is relatively easy to protect. Since Jugoslavia is no more, the threat from the east has ceased as well. From the north there's Austria and Switzerland, and we can safely assume they ain't gonna stir shit either. The rest is sea, and italian navy is plenty capable of taking on whatever Africa or the ME can throw at it. I'd be worried about Turkey, but they'd first have to go through Greece first, and Israel, if they ever end up feeling that their precious God has granted them genocide rights on the whole ass Med, but I bet they're too coward to bully anyone that isn't defenseless.
