Never waste your money on American handhelds (Surefire, Streamlight, Modlite, etc...). Chinese are still figuring out WMLs, but they have handhelds on lock.
I genuinely do not like the fact that these days they come in RIDICULOUS amounts of lumens. Like, 2000 lumens isn't even rare to see.
You don't need that shit if you are not actually a military/law enforcement/rescue service personel looking for lost people in the woods or some shit.
You don't need a fucking bat-signal to light up the sky and burn retinas. You need something that will illuminate that dark alleyway without blinding yourself or making it hard to see because the contrast/reflection turns everything white. For anything practical you need maybe 400 lumen max. For outdoor/innawoods activities 700 lumens. That's car low beams level of lighting. That's plenty.
I know that "biggger number better" is a marketing trick to impress idiots. I just don't like to see it happening. Pic related used by your Grampa in Vietnam had the great massive amount of 8 (EIGHT) lumens in it. Yeah, it was mostly meant for map-reading, but it did the job if you had lost your magazine and it was dark. Of course it's nice to have a bit brighter light than that, but there is such a thing as too much.
>>64018852You're buying the wrong lights. Good tactical handhelds have simple high/low switching. Good utility lights have 1-100% ramping.
>>64018974The joke is paying $200 for a SF/Cloud/Modlite with FET driver and no LVP.
>>64018852>Pic related used by your Grampa in Vietnam had the great massive amount of 8 (EIGHT) lumens in itThe Fulton MX-991/U has an output of ~30 lumens with a PR6 bulb, and there's plenty of drop in LEDs to bump that up to 300ish.
