The consolidation of calibers to 9mm/22lr/5.56 has been sad to witness.

Pre covid I was shooting all my weird shit for only all about the same prices.

I'm actually sad at the death of .40 S&W, and by extension .357 Sig. Nearly everyone just decided to stop offering their new pistols in .40, and now there are practically zero caliber options to choose from with the purchase of a compact/full size pistol. I was probably never going to buy a .40, but it was nice that consumers had a choice. Same goes for .45.

I'd argue that .45 has maybe a decade or two left until the boomers completely die off
Because the 1911 is singlehandedly the main reason why .45 is still so prominent

380 auto is making a comeback which is nice for pocket pistols (i'm assuming you mean 9mm as in 9mm nato and not generically any 9mm caliber cartridge)

I think .380 was inevitable since everything under the Sun wants to cater to women these days.

those microscopic handguns have about the same amount of felt recoil as a bigger 9mm desu. women don't shoot anything but 22 anyways

Eh most women that I know that like to shoot generally like 9mm.
it was a woman that introduced me to .40 S&W of all things
I was once in love with her

I think .45 will stick around for the foreseeable future and will be something like .357 that many people buy to round out their collections with something classically American. That's the only reason I own a 1911. I'm just hoping that in the next few years, the pendulum swings away from capacitymaxing and we can get a couple of new slim, compact .45/10mm pistols.

I did the same over time, but included the 45 & 12 gauge.
If I had to do all my gun & ammo purchases again it would have .38, .357 & 12 gauge. Basically have a revolver/rifle compatible combo. While options are nice there is just something good about everything able to shoot the ammo you have except of course the shotgun.

>The consolidation of calibers
I wish guns in 10 gauge and 16 gauge were still being made (especially the 16 gauge). 12 gauge is good, but it's kind of boring that it's what most people own.

It's been going on for awhile, but it certainly won't help.
