Spaniards said Portugal was a fake nation & that Portugal belonged to Spain & that Portuguese was a corrupted version of Spanish. Spain tried to conquer Portugal, but was blocked by the British giving Portugal unlimited aid.

America tried to conquer Canada in 1812 to create a buffer state vs. Britain, but Britain gave Canada unlimited aid to keep Canada afloat, thus America never got its buffer state in Canada.

Similar dynamics exist between Russia & Ukraine.

For all of the Russian propagandists screeching about Anglos, they never studied Anglo tactics.

One should never neglect to mention a much more modern example:
