Those chonky receivers with just a barrel coming out look kind of wrong to me, other delayed blowback guns like the HK series and the FAMAS tend to have a rod traveling above the barrel (to act as an interface for the charging handle, and also just add extra mass to the BCG), so they have something on the level of the upper part of the receiver and actually don't look that radically different from gas-operated guns, and older short-recoil guns like the MG30/34/42 tend to have a shorter (in terms of height, it's actually longer horizontally because of this) receiver so they also look fine and proportional in aesthetic terms.
Long guns where all the BCG mass is behind the barrel really need to have symmetrical tubular receivers like this to look good IMO (or rectangular as on the MG42). The first Baryshev is the closest to this and looks mostly alright, although maybe the barrel could be more centered to the handguard as on the StG-45 prototypes
