>>64029975>there was ZERO CRIME in DA GOOD OLD DAYSHoly shit the complete, absolute and delusional state of (you). No, "we" could never, ever do that. There has been crime throughout American and indeed all of human history. Obviously, it varies by region, and some us have gotten lucky, or had the mixture of luck & effort & sacrifice to make it to somewhere like that, but that doesn't change having to deal with the world as it is. And the area pictured in OP is clearly a city, and by definition is an area where this happens. A security door is a cheap, effective and basic first line of defense. I hope you can recognize that it's also a somewhat lower price then "move to a new area".
>doors unlocked, windows openYou still can, but IF you need to shut the door and close the windows, might as well make sure they can do their job.
>and kids could walk to schoolKids can still do that.
>Don’t blame the doorsHiding your head in the sand is not productive. I can decry crime while acknowledging the reality of dealing with it in the mean time. Same as natural disasters actually.
>>64030007>No, for most gun owners, guns are toys. OK so you're that same /pol/anon who shits things up here from time to time.
>I’m not talking about having enough money to extricate oneself from the city.>More like the political will and power to force changeOh good, yeah THAT is sure a cheap, easy, quick and tractable thing anon. Sure, just completely change the entire culture of an entire area of a fucking city! It'll no doubt be done next week for $500!
But assuming it actually takes a bit longer anon do you have any plans for people in the mean time?
