Today I'm making a commitment to bring a more positive and collaborative attitude to my /hg/ posting.

While it's obvious there are a lot of flawed individuals here, I think that many of us bring at least something the others could learn from.

I hope you all have a good weekend and enjoy your pistol.

I donโ€™t trust you to and I donโ€™t think there is anything to learn from you.

Go shoot at 7 yards and put 5 rounds into the same hole, become a better handgun shooter. Do some holster drills, have some knowledge. PP anon could put all 5 rounds into the same hole at 7 yards if he doesnโ€™t have a flier, as annoying as he is, heโ€™s taken criticism and has become a better shooter in the last few years.

How is the CC9 actually? All I know about it is that it looks like a Taurus and I wrote it off because I already had a Sig P365. Might be retiring the Sig soon and the CC9 is only slightly larger though, the S&W CSX is also interesting for this reason.

Same, it's more personal than some kind of workhorse long gun. I think by the very design of having something worn on the body like a fashion piece while a long gun can be placed down on a table or leaned onto a wall or something sets it aside.

Yeah my long guns are indisputably the most capable, and that very high capability ceiling lends itself to being optimized, minmaxed, and then left alone. While a handgun is more personal, more subjective, less constrained to the utilitarian by its nature and the form factor brings the smallest qualities into the light while requiring interesting and novel engineering considerations.
>>64031574
It's been a long year anon.
And yeah the skill floor/ceiling is pretty dramatic.
>>64031589
They really need to be niche because they are so constrained and situational.
>>64031593
Based spinner. They're so good for it because the bottom edge of the trigger shoe doesn't catch like on other guns.

You can cleanse skin pretty easy. LeadOff soap is one that uses the lead removal formula developed by niosh. There's also lead wipes and some other lead soap brand If you got kids in the house washing shit with lead on it gets it in your washer and then on their shit, unless you run that washer on empty like twice.

Glock Store just released a 26X, it has that cut

The reason Glock won't pick a footprint is because they move and change slowly and they didn't want to lose customers. The reason others do it is they follow Glock.

Doctor apparently was the most common cut, now it's funtionally dead since PSA stopped selling it
>tfw we are still selling 2 Doctor optics

now with Sig gone, I imagine Vortex isn't too happy, and DPP optics will decrease...

Great time for them just to make RMR cut slides and RMSc for slimeline with actual recoil posts...

>literally make A cut just for niche overpriced aimpoint but no RMR cut, make it make sense

It'll space off the extractor, potentially making you replace the extractor a lil early. Only other issue is if the guns sprung for hot 10mm sometimes 40 might not fully return it to battery, but I don't think that'll be an issue with the 510.

It just happens that my friend's Glock 26 with the mag extension (+0 or +2, I don't remember) thingy is so perfectly sized for me. I get all my fingers in, the grip is chonky enough that all my hand surface area is on the gun, and the slide/barrel's length is just short enough that I don't have to adjust my grip to avoid getting my weak hand thumb getting muzzle blasted, with no surplus length at all. Basically, it's the smallest gun that I can shoot with almost zero compromise.

I just want DA/SA for platform consistency (my only pistols are a Shadow and a CZ75B). The P07 and other CZ Compacts trigger my OCD because they're not in that perfect size envelope, they have surplus length on the slide/barrel even if the grip length is just perfect with a flush-fitting mag.

Not really, because of the platform consistency thing.

It's really just my autism, just the idea of a firearm that is a pure extension of my hands, no more, no less. The G26 size fits my unmodified shooting grip (as used on my full-sized pistols) EXACTLY, without any surplus or deficit of length or height at all. That just really excites me.

Alright /hg/, let's say you have to pick ONLY 1 (english: one, spanish: uno) handgun to buy for the rest of your life with NO EXCHANGING, REFUNDS, OR RETURNS WHATSOEVER... which one would it be?
Caliber choices are 9mm Makarov, 9mm Parabellum, .22 LR, and .38 Special ONLY.
Hard mode: 9mm Parabellum ONLY.

I live in a noguns country. It's possible to buy guns but the rules are very strict and there's no gun culture because nobody cares about guns and we're one of the top 10 safest countries in the world anyway.
I'm thinking of getting a gun for shooting range fun, and "maybe" competitive shooting (hence the hard mode criteria). It is possible to buy more than one gun, but I'm not changing the question. It is also possible to buy other caliber guns, but importing ammo is straight-up not possible at all (or extremely difficult). Only shooting club ammo is provided which are the calibers above.

I liked Beretta 92s, Caracals, Px4s, S&Ws. CZ-75Bs were "okay", but Tanfoglio 1911 felt awful. The answer doesn't have to be any of the aforementioned ones, share what you think fits as a one-and-only type of gun.

Meme answers like "hurr durr I'd move out" is not accepted. Don't be a nigger faggot and waste your time.

Berettatroรถns crimes against /k/ include

>valuing weapon aesthetics above all
This is wrong on so many levels, but the troon admitted and defended this position.

>being overly familiar with one specific weapon
The autism causes the troon to only have specific weapons. A great warrior once said that this is as much a fault as not knowing the weapon well enough.

>being an incel
A lot of people here are incels, but Berettatroon advertises it by posting those coomrags. Thus he gives his favorite gunmaker a bad name. I'll even go so far as to say this anon would be the least attractive among anons itt except Burt.

>lobbying the jannies
He sits on a discord with one or more jannies, and abuses this on people who disagree with him. He does this rather than getting laid. If you've ever had a good faith post earn you a ban, it's because of this incel.

>he starts the drama
Like a jew, all he does is stir shit up. He doesn't hold himself to his own standards.

>he hates being called by his name

Aftermarket is non-existent, parts would also have to be ordered and go through paperwork.
iirc during competitions even the 92 is given(?) to those who don't have a gun but want to compete, but according to the RO most competitors already have their own guns.

I am "leaning" towards a 92 but want to see other options.

Itโ€™s a piece of art. My only complaint is that I really donโ€™t like carrying such a pretty blued thing. As well as the fact that it has a 750 round recoil spring life or it will batter the frame to the point where itโ€™s very difficult to take the slide off; supposedly it was common practice for that model in Italian service to have the slide โ€œsling shottedโ€ into a bucket once it got really bad. I keep track of my round count so I can be fully on top of it and avoid that crude practice. Even then, it takes a bit of muscle to disassemble after a shooting session.

That quirk should be specific to the original 84, before they revised it with the later versions.

A lot of people did. When I went to vedder, they let me try out a full size m&p, which was fairly comfortable, but an unloaded m&p is probably half the weight of my 92. But I'm determined to carry my 92. I do like the holster though, and the guys at vedder were really nice. Holster was pretty cheap too.

The skin absorption is negligible and not clinically significant even if you're a regular shooter, especially if you wash up well with the soap with chelating agents (hygenall leadoff is ideal and very cheap). What you should be more concerned with is inhalation, if you're shooting indoors and your range doesn't have a proper air filtration set up, get gone.

It's lovely to finally touch and fire Soviet/Russian steel, but he's right, the accuracy is really ass due to the short barrel.
Still a sexy gun though and I would like to have an East German one as a collectible, but firearm importers that work here during the annual exhibition probably won't find one that would ship here easily.

Thanks for the suggestions! Out of what you mentioned, which would you single out?
>Glock
I'll be honest because I'm really ignorant, but are the glocknade memes real? I remember seeing them on posts on this board back in the day, but never read much into them or why are they called that.
>carry
Not possible, locked case transported to shooting range only, and ammo isn't sold anyway for that matter, so size doesn't matter (wink).

>>64033638
Thanks for the info! Not sure if I would go with one until I tried it out, but the one at the range is out of order and they don't bother repairing it.

Since you're asking an earnest question I will give you an equally earnest answer: no.

Although, if this gun isn't for carry and just strictly for range shooting get whatever impractical range toy you want.

No, my best guess of the process is that the mandrel broke off in the cold hammer forging process. It's got two sections that are supposed to go inside the barrel blank during the forging process, one being smooth and the other having the ridges to impress the rifling onto the barrel interior. They probably didn't notice until they went to process the next blank and forgot to track down the faulty barrel.

10 round MecGar mags are great, both 9mm and .40

Theyโ€™re an enthusiastโ€™s handgun, there are more reliable, cheaper, higher capacity, guns on the market. You have to be into them to be willing to deal with 1911isms, but particularly 10mm 1911s I have had this slide stop issue. I think itโ€™s the recoil forces involved that wiggle the slide stop like this. This is like the third one with this issue, one of them was caused by the slide stop touching rounds in the mag. If itโ€™s mostly reliable, a government length .45 should be easily, then itโ€™s a range toy and a gun to fuck around on your desk, doesnโ€™t need to be 100% to do that. For a carry gun it needs to be 100% which with some luck and sending back to the manufacturer a few times youโ€™ll get.

I really like shooting them, I like how the slide feels racking it, I like the look of them, I like how they balance and spin on my finger - I have a habit of spinning guns and spun a unloaded 1911 at the range by habit.

Bill Wilson has never let me down. The three Wilson Combats Iโ€™ve have have never had any issues. I cannot say the same for Dan Wesson, Colt, Nighthawk, or Tisas. Sometimes I wonder what the fuck Iโ€™m doing with these things and that I should get a HK45C or FNX45 or something. Then I shoot them again and not want to shoot anything else.

Any expensive 1911 I've had was garbage and picky about ammo, but the turkshit and Phillipines made guns functioned flawlessly. The cheapos had loose fitting slides with a lot of wobble, sort of like a glock, which i guess led to them functioning well, but the ones that had really tight fitting slides, hand fit, with no wobble barely fucking cycled. I suppose that, because 1911 forgings are extremely easy to buy, like ar-15 forgings, that they became an obvious choice for "custom shops" like Ed Brown, etc to manufacture without having the means to make their own forgings. But to justify the retarded prices they wanted to charge, they had to tout that they were "hand fit," which sounded nice to morons that wanted to spend a lot on a gun, but did not lend itself well to reliability and functionality. You see the same thing with 2011s. People claim that they HAVE to be expensive because... they just do, okay? But the turkshit 2011s cost 500 dollars and work really well.

I had this issue before I swapped out the trigger. I think the cause might be the full length guide rod I installed, I sent a 1911 back to nighthawk with this issue (alot more rare, 3-4 out of 1000 rounds) and he adjusted
>slide stop obviously
>lower barrel lugs
>guide rod
to fix premature slide stop engagement

I'll put back the stock guide rod, I don't remember having this issue on my break in period day (300 rounds) which I followed the break in procedure quite closely. This is like the 3rd time it happened, I would say I am at 700-800 rounds with this gun. All happening after I swapped out the guide rod.

hmm, I do like the feel of the tungsten guide rod but I guess it has to go

You do get accuracy out of it. Tight fit is the mark of a higher quality gun, which broken in Dan Wessons, in good working order, out perform price to performance ratio real custom guns

A custom build is like 4-5k, with or without a donor gun (built on a stock Colt for instance). A Dan Wesson is 1.2-2k.

>Seething glockkiddies
Pathetic. You have three basic categories of 1911s. Mass produced guns, semi fit guns, and hard fit guns. Mass produced guns, like all other mass produced firearms, should not require a break in for reliable function. They are radiused and toleranced with extra space between parts, this means that they do not need a break in but will never be as tight as the other categories. This is what you're used to from your typical glockslop and other mass produced designs. Hard fit and semi fit guns will need break in of some sort, this is because they are not created GAPED from the factory to ensure reliability between any set of parts Tyreese and Trinarius decide to throw together on the line on that particular day. Dan Wessons are semi-fit guns, the parts are machine cut slightly oversized then hand fitted together. For this reason while they may need a little bit of break in for "trust your life to it" reliability they will be much tighter in terms of fitment.

Dan Wesson is the 0 body count trad wife to the triple digit body count pre-gaped stacy Glock that modernity has acclimatized you to.

You can always get a GI spec more loosely fit gun, but if you want something tightly fit you're either going to pay for it to be broken in by the factory on a machine or you'll do it yourself. I prefer knowing exactly how it was done.
>>64034515
It's not quite that, it's that you really do need to be somewhat picky about buying one and given the incredibly wide range of companies making 1911s that can be hard. So it starts with knowing what the differences are, what matters to you, and then dealing with whatever the implications of your choice are. And admittedly, in a lot of cases that means being willing to send it in for warranty service if it's not working correctly from the outset. QC is pretty shit on basically everything in the modern world, so it's offloaded to the buyer. You're better off buying from a company that's reputed to have good service.
>>64034522
Why did you swap the guide rod? I don't really understand why you'd spend ~$2k on a pkstom just to swap a bunch of parts out anyway.

Okay, but why is this a good thing? TONS of pros shoot glocks, so obviously the wobbly slides and loose tolerances don't stop them from winning. If hand fit slides result in more accuracy, how much? Are there any demonstrations of this? Is it enough to see if you're shooting bench rest at 100 yards? My 92fs's slide was so tight that I had to break it in, it's a very tight fit, but I don't see any extra accuracy out of it when I'm shooting at 100 yards when compared to my m&p.

I have a completely different point of view. No gun out of the box is worthy of trusting your life with. Glocks have lemons time to time. Ben Stoeger had one.

I give every gun a โ€œbreak in periodโ€ of 500 rounds before I carry it or use it for home defense. If you trust a gun out of the box, no matter the brand, I think youโ€™re dumb

Honestly I don't care if it makes it more accurate or not. It feels nicer to me and as shooting is primarily a recreational activity for me the subjective quality of the experience is the most important part for most of my shooting.

I keep polyslop in my nightstand, have a polyslop CCW, and have a minmaxxed AR for "muh serious use cases" but when I go to the range to shoot for pleasure I bring a 1911. I'd still trust my life to it, but only because I've come to trust it over time.

That's totally cool and I agree, my Sig platinum 1911 (From waaaay back when sig didn't suck) had a super tight slide that felt like oiled glass when I racked it. I loved that gun. It however, wasn't reliable with anything other than hornady for some reason. But most of the people here are claiming that hand fit slides are more accurate, but I never saw that when shooting, and nobody else seems to be able to prove that. Even if someone demonstrates that a Nighthawk or something is more accurate than turkshit, how do we know that's the slide fitment and not just the barrel or something?

Huge thanks to all anons who helped out with my earlier inquiry!
I'm still not finalized on what handgun to get, but whatever that has been shared so far has been noted. 92 or Glock sounds nice, but I'll try the ones on the range first before settling on a final purchase.

The annual gun exhibition (actually a hunting exhibition) takes place next month which is too soon for ordering, so I'll see again next year.
I honestly want a Colt SAA (Uberti), but absolute lack of ammo import will mean it would be a decorative wall hanger or expensive fidget spinner, so I'm asking for something more practical.

If SGAmmo listed S&B 10mm JHP as cheaper than fmj from the same brand like it did that day, I'd be running that non-stop. I could probably run 10,000 more rounds of that shit through this gun and not see any issues. meanwhile, it trips and falls on its face when I shoot fiocci ball out of it. It's all so perplexing. it almost make me wonder if machine spirits are real and happen to be picky eaters, because nothing, not headspace, not barrel link size and timing, ramp angle nor mag quality seems to be able to tap into the root of it.
