Especially in competition scenarios?
It seems to me that less reciprocating mass is better if you want to cycle quickly, and mounting an optic to a stationary point would help you reacquire the target much faster.

Already ben dun befo, it's worse than slide mounted outside of maybe a purpose built design that doesn't add bulk
>You're now aware of the ALG mount for Glocks and various others, some of which are still used by competition shooters

It's much easier to mount the optic to the slide on most guns, and nobody really gives a shit about the extra mass slowing down rate of fire. It's a disadvantage on paper but nobody gives a shit in practice.....except high level competition shooters, and they are mounting their optics to the frame. Open division race guns are nearly always 1911's with frame-mounted optics.

frame-mounted optics are bulky, slide-mounted optics are incredibly compact.

all of the negative things you said barly matter.

the flat silver one is a 'gas pedal', its where you rest your forward thumb. the black one is a charging handle.

Because for shooters who get into it the difference a frame mounted optic offers only starts mattering when you're in the upper echelon autism sweatfests where no one doesn't have a $200 microfiber polyester sponsor jersey on

i've never used one personally but i dont think that would be very helpful. USPSA is a very run-and-gun sport, taking the time to brace on a wall would be counterintuitive

also if you dont have to worry about your gun being concealable or practical you can minmax it in all the flamboyant ways, like frame optics, comps and big-ass flared magwells
