So I'm wondering about something. Is there a market for crazy high-end tactical gear, like plate carriers made of the lightest materials, with matte gold-plated Fidlock buckles, super-high-end carbon fiber frames, leather accents, tasteful solid colors that you can throw camo placards over, and shit like that? Maximum lightness combined with maximum durability, and additional touches to make it a heirloom/luxury product that isn't a gay wristwatch. Does this make sense to anybody? I think it would be cool.

Anyways, they make gear and carriers too, along with their own inserts. Their "platinum" lineup is the bespoke customized whatever-you-want stuff for executive protection. There is a market for what you propose but it's tight and probably hard to break into without credentials.

As much as the idea of heirloom body armor is appealing to everybodys inner 14 year old, it seems mutually exclusive to modern PPE being inherently disposable. I'm gonna acktshually you bro. LIBA plates from Tencate are technically repairable if you replace the ceramic pellets and there's no significant damage to the PE backer.
Otherwise though you're completely right. Where bespoke armor would come into play is with extremely high-end, low areal density custom-fit panels and covert plates. Think the rumored all-PE ultralight version of the VelSys PULV but made to fit a client perfectly in a bespoke carrier sized to their exact dimensions, with the plate made of the very finest Spectra 6000 or whatever so it's even lighter.
Like it or not if you wanna barge into executive protection armor you need to pack some inserts too. Tobias Rieper ain't rolling up in a $5,000 carrier stuffed with Highcum 4SUS4s, man.

I think I've got it. The plate bags will be replaceable and even hot-swappable. If you get hit, or if the nylon wears out or something, swap it out like you'd swap out a watch band. The "core" of the system will be a frame + straps + yoke.

I don't really get the question. Old belt systems (at least in the US) were symmetrical because they were worn much higher so you could easily reach the mags in the right hand pouch with your off hand, so a modern equivalent would be a chest rig or vest. A modernized version of an alice worn as a vest is essentially what the Ephod is, though I doubt that's what you're looking for. Modern belts are worn at the belt line so they don't interfere with a carrier, so theyre necessarily asymmetrical because access with the opposite hand harder because of whatever shit on the front of your carrier is in the way, plus its just further to reach. It comes down to what you're trying to achieve.

Need recommendations for a chest rig that fits someone victim sized. 5'5, 140lbs, nothing that i've tried adjusts small enough, there always ends up being slack in the shoulder straps that causes chafing while the strap around the back is basically the only thing holding it on.

I got the uv25 plus recently and im pretty impressed with it. You can ping your GPS to another uv25 plus and navigate to saved coordinates. Also has a pseudo encrypted net thing but also only works with other uv25s. You can also get weather data through it and get Comms with aircraft and maritime vessels. All this for 60 bucks is a steal

UV-25 series is basically the "new" UV-5R if you can tolerate a fuckheug brick. Where they went wrong with the UV-32 is a proprietary battery that is frankly... small.
I personally use a UV-25D and I've been very impressed with it. Lacks many of the features of the UV-25M / UV-25 Plus / UV-25L / UV-25Alibabaspecialoftheweek but it transmits like a boss and Rx is also great.

I've personally worn my viktos AR670's every day for 5 years now. They used to be my go to when I had to walk to work. Now I just put them on when I walk my dog. Viktos also has some super proprietary insoles you can buy (which I also have) that you put in the oven, then stand on them, and they're supposed to mold to your feet. The Condor MA33. I've got two. They fit three PMAGs a cell but you have to do some light wedging because of the divider in the middle. Load the furthest out first, then behind the divider, then wedge the last one between you and the one in the middle. You cannot index reliably by doing the closest two first.
The build quality is decent, but condor. They're basically a copy of the Eagle T041.

I love the swagman roll but it's too light for colder climates, I never carry all my insulation in my quilt or sleeping bag as I'll also have a jacket for being stationary which I'll wear to sleep so I don't carry redundant insulation, but even then I'd rather have a heavier woobie that will be good for both hooter and colder temps and just own one instead of 2.
