Alright I'll start

I think most people in this community simply cannot ever think for themselves and are most of the time nowadays entirely driven by a lack of emotional intelligence and the foresight to look into things at a genuine critical level while at the same time driving that sort of thinking away entirely.

What does this manifest as? "muh emotional intelligence" doesnt seem relevant to gun discussion at all, unless you're talking about people getting mad about something without themselves understanding why they're mad.

These are complaints about the internet in general. I see the same crap on tool and music related forums too. Some people see tool brands like lifestyle brands and get personally offended if Brand A beats Brand B in a comparison. Milwaukee vs. Dewalt is just like Beretta vs. Glock. Also, you know how some people bitch about how some guns are "cheap corporate garbage" while others "have soul"? And how people lament how guns have gotten worse and aren't made as well as the "good old days"? It's the same crap with guitars and synths.

The internet tends towards extremes.

I hate when people can't accept that some guns and accessories are more just for the fun of owning them than getting any actual use out of them. I lurk /arg/ and lots of anons on there are guilty of this. Yes I'm aware that my light is outdated, but no I'm not planning on relying on it to save my life. I just think it looks cool. I had one anon try to tell me that every gun range should be a literal two-way range with live ammunition, because how else are you going to simulate "real world usage"?

a lot of people have low self-esteem. They're not comfortable saying "I have X because I think it's cool" or "I'm buying into an image" (larping). They have to have something to fall back on, like a trend/person they're following, or some factoid they can point to, like "this gun has the highest capacity", "most expensive", "highest velocity", "biggest bullet", etc.

>somehow the gun community decided plastic pistols and AR variants were the only guns worth manufacturing
>if you don’t use *insert caliber* then you will die
>if you carry less than 3 magazines in your edc plus a tourniquet and flashlight you will die
>answering newbie questions with a ton of abbreviations and brand names rather than simple terms and the actual names of products
>a shitty war in Ukraine is being used as a metric to measure the combat effectiveness of guns and gear
>a huge range of popular and good quality guns and gun related gear is classified as “Reddit tier”
>the obsession with SBRs and thermals, and by that I mean people implying it’s the only way to effectively survive a combat encounter
>grabbers pretending not to be grabbers and spurg 2A advocates pretending not to be spurg 2A advocates

NTA but LED drop in bulb. I use LEDs in anything from vintage flashlights to vintage lamps and it probably extends their lifespan due to reduced heat and probably reduced UV exposure.

This might just be me, but the way Zombie Apocalypse gets butchered into hyper realistic long term survival tactics. Zombie culture is all about killing zombies and looking cool doing it. But walking dead stretched out the fun and made it into Amish soap opera with shit writing. And it leaked into the whole genre. 3 seconds into a zombie conversation and some Reddit tier nerd has to bring up
>errrm aktchually you’d likely die from tainted water and starvation rather than zombies or bandits
>and errrmm gasoline would go bad after a few months so vehicles would be useless almost immediately
Buddy, zombies exist for us to talk about the best way to shoot and stab them. Preferably with zombie green painted guns.

See, here's the thing. Actual survivalists outnumber zombie larpers 100:1 if not more, because, well, zombies aren't real. Nobody is going around killing them while looking cool. So, whenever the topic comes up it's assumed you're actually talking about prepping with "zombies" being just some silly excuse. If you are actually serious about zombie larping then just make that clear from the get-go, and you won't have to worry about people incorrectly assuming you're just a nerdy prepper.

I get what you’re saying, but a zombie discussion or thread is self evident. I don’t need to specify that the discussion is about “fun zombie fighting and prepping” because that IS zombies. Zombies are an outlandish prepper fantasy scenario to debate. Long term survival, farming, husbandry shouldn’t enter the conversation unless you specify that as part of the theme, not the other way around. It’s like talking about how you would live in the Avenger universe and the conversation is all about you manage to rebuild the wrecked cities and handle government contracts.

My biggest gripe are people furiously masturbating over practicality which always and only means killing people, deer, hogs, bears. Never can a gun be meant for killing squirrels or small birds or just kept for the sake of its own enjoyment. It's gotten to the point where people recommend ARs over 10/22s and Mav88s for beginners despite the latter 2 being way cheaper and easier to shoot and therefore being way less off-putting to a n00b. Everything has to be srsbsns 25/8 no fucking about allowed

This. Though it depends on the conversation. It is /k, so technically a grand discussion about fighting multiple armed combatants is on point, and a response of
>but do you have a water filter and backup generator??
is a bit misplaced. Unless of course they are talking about general survival. But I do see what your saying, people devote far too much time on shooting claiming it’s going to carry them when “it” happens

I'd never willingly give up my guns, but I'd also be willing to jump through reasonable hoops to keep them. I used to be an absolutist, but I look around the state of our current society and have come to feel like most of these retards out here have no business owning a gun. The mouthbreathers on this site have only reinforced this opinion over the years.

It’s a hard choice, but I choose morons shooting the ceiling. I’ll tell you why.
>retards with guns
>not great
>shoots holes in floor and ceiling
>moderate chance of being near them at the range and in danger
>kill each other in petty squabbles and road rage’s
>sometimes affects innocent people
Vs
>retard elected
>knows even less about guns than the retards shooting floors
>gets information about gun danger and accessories from social media and Karen’s
>pass laws that are 99% grabbing normal people’s guns and 1% stopping retards from owning guns
>and that 1% just borrow guns from slightly less retarded retard that slipped through the net
Choice number one at least gives to the chance to be vigilant and avoid retards at the range. Once laws hit the books it’s pretty much in stone and only goes forward to worse laws

It fell apart from inner politics and splicing in other game themes “for fun”. Now me and the other 2 core members reformed and play exclusively in secret. That sounds cool. It’s been a rough road getting our group back together. Our big group consisted of friends and family and peaked at 10 members. Then Trump election started and everyone got reeeeeal sensitive. Everyone formed clicks and fought it out. The main group sided with the interracial gay couple and tried to shame me and my buddies for liking guns and light conservative views. But we got the last laugh because the black guy in the gay couple turned out to be a sex offender. They tried to ditch them and crawl back but we shut them down and went off on our own. Trench crusader here, tell him to dive in. Core rules plus full army/gear lists for all factions is just 180 pages, and it's model agnostic so any minis you happen to have laying around are good to go.
Also, talking hobbies with corpos is how I went from teller to branch manager for a bank in 4 months rather than the 10 years it normally takes. Make a good impression on the right person is the fastest way to move up the ladder.

How easily led by the nose by marketing they are. Hypebeasts falling for it are destroying the industry as credible manufacturers of quality products lose market share to companies that focus more on SEO and astroturfing and selling at a loss to agencies for recognition. Who wants to hear a joke?

>Funny how leftist groups always have at least 1 sex offender
All groups contain sex offenders because sex offenders are very common. Any occupation that works with or around kids is full of them. Teachers, coaches, scouting, church "youth groups".

It's not just the internet, that's human nature. IRL situations are complex but we humans constantly want to reduce things to black and white.

I feel like /k/ actually does pretty well pushing back on this relatively speaking, at least in the few threads I pay attention to. There are plenty of anons who will cheerfully tell you that looking cool, being fun, and being within budget are critical aspects of gun purchases and make fun of larpers. Including anons with incredibly nice guns they like, but will still be like "yeah but it's trash value I got because I like it and you can do way better with XYZ at 1/5 the price" or admit the obvious 80/20 rule for accessories.

Is geissele really hypebeast though? They have items regularly in stock with consistent big sales that are really good at suppressing prices on the secondary market. Their standard products also have an actual value proposition compared to those other brands.

Their triggers are wildly overrated and overpriced MIM and cast pot metal shit.
And if I recall correctly, the owner is some kind of weird hyper-Zionist who brags about voluntarily donating money to Israel because he thinks it'll make Jesus return to earth.

Going to assume you mean calling/emailing regarding a law in Congress.
Which to you I say this, when did anyone ever say you have to stop doing 3-D printing to call your local rep to not pass a gay ass law. If anything the calling and the gay ass law never being passed in the first place is much easier for everyone but it's not a zero sum binary choice.

No, Geissele doesn't make anything that is significantly better than other competitors, they just use marketing to inflate their perceived value to occupy (in the minds of hypebeasts) a market position that suggests an increased value proposition
>>64066366
incorrect, and the typical cope you expect to see from a geisslop slurper. There are many brands that exceed the quality and value of Geissele, the difference being that they put their money into engineering and QC instead of brand-engineering. Geissele is firmly Q/Sig-tier, not just in the quality of the engineering and workmanship but in the fact that they "earn" their money with the same strategies as those other companies. I used to buy Geissele when I was a new AR owner and over the years have slowly sold basically everything I ever owned from them because it's almost entirely india-tier manufacturing dressed up as "duty grade" by wining/winning contracts

In the AR market you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that makes anything significantly better these days unless you go to two extremes of price point (even then....). I would say the G2S (maybe the pricier ones but I only have experience with the G2S) is competitive with the MBT2 around 80-90 dollars, whatever barrels they source for the URGI's are reportedly pretty stellar (there's a 9 holes reviews video with like two or three of the things being very accurate and those guys actually shoot), and their rails can be found on sale, secondary market, or blem regularly less than $200 sometimes close $100 (personally prefer their rails due the design variety, the double crossbolt lock-up, and anti rotation set screws). There's also the REBCG, arguably more worth it than the improved version LMT makes which is really only useful if you buy just the improved LMT bolt as the carrier doesn't play well with all setups.

Tl;dr I think there's plenty of value to be found in geissele for mid and even lowish range prices

I'll add to my little rant here that you contrast this with a company like KAC. (Caveat here being: as of the last time i kept abreast of KAC things which was fairly recently) The fact that uppers can sit on shelves for a decent amount of time while lowers go for bonkers prices immediately (both distributor and used market) is quite telling. I get they focus on .gov contracts but their civ side is handled like Spiritus dribbling out 7 mismatched patches of fabric that might get you a complete chest rig every other month.

Because none of the regulations stop the people doing crime from getting guns anyway. Do you know how many firearm homicides are committed by convicted felons? The guy who just randomly decides to plug somebody on a whim is extremely rare. The vast majority are done by people with a criminal history a mile long.

We don't need more regulation, we just need to actually enforce the ones we have.
