if i want a pdw-type home defense gat, is literally the only argument in favor of 300blk that it does better at 100+ yards and i can run supers in it for ak-like performance? if it's basically going to live its life as a bedside gun with subsonics and a can on it, is there any actual reason to get a 300blk sbr over a suppressed 9mm or 45acp pcc?

If you feel like you need to penetrate soft armor with subs, 300 blk is better. Otherwise it's a meme cartridge. Just get a stribog or something

If you're going to just use subs then don't bother with it. Subsonic .300 isn't going to be any better than a .45, and that's only if you get Gucci $1.50 per round all copper loads. More comparably prices/available subsonic loads are pretty trash in the expansion department. .300 blk is good because it offers good rifle style performance with quality supers out of very short barrel lengths, even down to 5.5" with some loads, while also being able to run subs if needed. If it's a dedicated gun for HD that youre just going to run subs through then you're definitely better off with a PCC
