We are stuck with a closed firearms economy. Anything which is sold now just results in buying something even shittier later. They should honestly consider offering a trade-in + free garand offer. Lots of new rifles are being made with good cast receivers right now, and probably 30-40% of all NR nu-prohib owners would take that deal. We could use the money to pay bills etc, and the garands are amazing rifles and much better quality than anything else in Canada. The feds will never get compliance if the deal is basically 'accept a downhill quality slope, so no matter what happens you are getting screwed'.

So far the SKS seems to be a pretty hard rifle to screw up. The only ones that had any issues with them were Chinese ones that can be found with machining marks and poor finishes but even Chinese ones are a good bang for your buck.
Zastava M59/66's tend to be the most expensive and sought after but i can't speak on the quality. Soviet Tulas are probably second in line and then Chinese at the bottom. Some other countries produced SKS's like Albania and North Korea but good luck getting any of those.
