Personally I actually agree with the designation, just not on the basis of aesthetics
"Socialism with Chinese characteristics" is "socialist" policy tailored to the specific nationalist requirements of the ruling party - in my opinion that's about as close to the literal meaning of the words "national socialism" as its possible to get
