This probably isn’t representative of anything an I get the feeling it was cooked up in the last 24 hours after that picture of the guys in gay socks standing in front of a very conventional looking stealth fighter was posted by their hr ladies yesterday. The cockpit looks like scuffed ai slop, this is probably out today because they don’t want people thinking their F/A-XX bid has tails. However I will say it’s interesting that the overwing intakes are still a thing, as that concept carries over from the 6th gen from their ads a couple years ago, and would be good for stealth at the cost of maneuver performance. Makes sense if they’re going for more strike focus.

I know when it’s from, I posted it to show the design continuity over the years. I follow what little there is to follow fairly closely and am pulling for NG to win hopefully. I’m a big fan of the overwing intake for a strike focused stealth fighter and think with recent experience on B-21 they’d probably be the best to execute on it.

Wasn't there a delay recommendation that could be bad for F/A-XX? Is this picture going out to drum up enough support to push against the delay or is it too late?

Senate appropriations has it funded to the tune of $1.4 billion in their version of the FY2026 budget. House version has it at ~900 million but also called on SecDef earlier in the summer to report on where the money has gone and when a contract will be awarded this August. We will have to see what they reconcile it to but it likely stays funded given both chambers want it. Senate is also funding the E-7 program that was being cut to the tune of ~$650 million. While it is very possible Hegseth is being a retard, it also isn’t uncommon for Hebrew battle tactics to be deployed during budget season, where the services stack the budget request with their wants and leave a couple big needs that they know Congress loves and will fund on top of the budget request in the UPL. To me it least it’s starting to look like these cancellations were theater to storm more money out of congress.

You’re welcome, just happy people are still willing to read. It depends heavily on how much disagreement the two chambers have when reconciling the bills but generally isn’t a quick process. Several months isn’t an unfair estimate, and at minimum nothing will start to be done until September as the House is on recess until then. As it stands I believe the budget is already delayed vs its normal passing due to the BBB omnibus taking so much time. As far as F/A-XX is concerned I don’t think it will be very contentious, as iirc the relevant House subcommittee is chaired by Representative Ken Calvert out of California, a very vocal friend of the program in recent months. I’m not on the floor and naturally am not privy to any inside information, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Navy get the full $1.4 billion from the UPL in the final budget given congressional sentiment on the program.

Fingers crossed that's how it goes for both programs, we can rest easy these couple of months. Then we can worry about whether the Navy will fuck it up.
Thanks again anon.

No trouble anon. Hopefully it all works out. In theory if it goes to NG we should have a very good balance among the primes the next few decades, good for everyone.

Yeah, which is why Ocelot would be on the nose. Bobcat and Sabrecat are unused, and the latter could also be a reference to the F-86, but North American is now part of Boeing.

I say this with 100% certainty, as a natural born white-descended American citizen,
Absolutely noone, nobody, not one single person gives any amount of fuck about how the Navy is going to ultragimp and fuck up procurement of an F-18 E/F successor. The F-18 REQUIRING upsizing into the E/F Super Hornet tells everyone on this planet exactly what we all need to know to expect how the FAXX is going to be mishandled.
