Best ammo for Bodyguard 2.0?
People have said it has some feeding issues. Which brands don't ever have problems?

polish feeding ramp
test your own guns limits at the range where you would practice with it
don't strike plates with full copper or aluminum rounds due to ricochet hazards (don't trust angled plates inside 30feet in that situation either)

What this guy said >>64101521
You have to test every ammo with YOUR firearm
Even with revolvers to see how well they eject

And that's not even getting into point of impact and grouping

I'd advise against polishing at this point if you don't know this yet, you could potentially do more damage than good

Do not listen to this retard. .380 ball ammo can and will overpenetrate and endanger anyone or thing behind what you're shooting at (assuming you're shooting at an average sized human being). If you don't believe me, believe Paul. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nX3gpJ-GAy0
Use a hollow point that actually expands out of a short barreled .380. OR use the screw driver rounds. But whatever you do, do NOT use regular ball ammo for self defense, you're risking lives of innocent bystanders.

People aren't bags of citrus. In real life shootings .380 ball is usually found inside the clothing of the person shot or within a few feet of them. It does not have the energy to be dangerous after hitting a target. Meanwhile JHP in .380 is an absolute shit show of either not expanding and performing the exact same as FMJ or expanding and under penetrating massively.

380 is just slightly necked down 9mm, if you were gonna carry FMJ 32acp or 25acp then I wouldn't argue against that but the potential for 380 over penetration is very much there.

Bullets being trapped within the back layer of skin or clothing on exit is a fairly common phenomena, that just shows that you don't know what you're talking about. Clothing is a lot better at stopping a bullet when the things going 200fps and it isn't using a body as a backer that keeps it from moving.
>>64102431
>Words words words
I get that you FEEL like that should be the case anon, but that isn't how things work in real life. .32 and .25 are an absolute shit shows when it comes to getting adequate penetration in the first place and .380 ball is completely fine for carry use.

You do realize that bullets don't magically retain their muzzle velocity after traversing a whole ass human body front to back, don't you?

I'm on mobile and have a flight to catch in a bit here, but I also have a copy of Vincent di maio's excellent practical aspects of gunshot wounds(should be required reading for these threads IMO)

Pages 304, 331, 363 all contain mentions of bullets exiting a body and being retained by clothing, if I can be assed to later I'll see if I can't find the exact mentions of this being more common with .380 vs other calibers. If you ggogle the book you can get your own PDF version for free, guy unironically participated in thousands of autopsies and has some interesting nuggets of information even if the book is largely about the forensics end of things

CD doesn't do that in .380, it under penetrates like just about anything else, the only decent JHP loads in .380 are hydrashok deep and some xtp loads. The xtp loads are very mercurial though I've seen ones with less than 100fps velocity difference perform wildly differently

If by "appropriate" you mean "has a fair chance of overpenetrating and doing damage to things you don't want to actually damage"; then sure, it's appropriate.

Fair enough, I would still carry ball in 380. I highly doubt it had enough energy to go through someone's head and then through another person's head. I'm surprised 9mm has enough velocity to accomplish that feat to be honest, and I'm guessing that was the round used in the Detroit case.

NTA, but I do not care about overpentration, at least within the context of normal defensive calibers. In the infinitesimally small chance that I find myself in a defensive shooting, I am willing to accept the exponentially smaller chance that 1. one or more rounds passes through the target (i.e. ignoring risk of rounds missing the target), and 2 there is someone behind the target that I was not aware of, and 3 the person is someone I do not want to harm, and 4 the round is still carrying enough energy to still do serious harm, and 5 it actually hits the person and does serious harm, and 6 all things considered different ammo would have been sufficient to change the outcome. I could see if you were talking about using 20mm DU rounds for self defense, but with any common handgun caliber the risk of harm from overpenetration is so exceedingly small compared to all of the other ways the situation could go wrong it's not worth thinking about.

Only some with a manufacturing defect need to be polished. Some have a ledge on the feed ramp which catches some bullets. If you just look at your gun it will be very obvious if you have it or not. If you're buying a bodyguard 2.0 just lock the slide back and look at the ramp before you buy it. It will be extremely obvious.

lol you got meme’d. with .380, you have to choose between expansion and penetration. There are some brands that can compromise and give you marginally acceptable metrics on expansion and penetration. All guns need a break-in. Start with a few boxes of whatever .380 FMJ is cheap, then buy a box of the least exotic shaped hollow points (Winchester for example) and if they run well stick with that. The effectiveness of boutique hollow points is very overstated in small carry guns, and since the Bodyguard has a relatively high capacity you'll be getting more rounds on target anyway.

Get one, anon. You'll be upgrading to .380, it's not a tiny-pocket carry (if that's how you're carrying P32 rn) but pocket holsters are available for the Bodyguard 2.0 and also belt/IWB. It's barely larger in size (~half-inch taller, longer) but not much heavier, and you can full grasp it with 3 fingers, the first micro carry handgun that can be deployed in mag-reload gunfights.
