idk man I got a MidTen .223 and 9mm version on Amazon, works pretty well

should a bore sighter on a .556 AR-15 turn on the second the round is chambered without pulling the trigger? I just got a new but used AR-15 and I'm kinda nervous about it.

What do you need a laser for? Play with the cat?

I've got two sightmark ones, in 9mm and x39.
I'd say definitely not those, whatever ones you go with.
They get stuck in the chamber, they're not great in terms of accuracy, and you get about a minute and a half of battery life total.
I've used them to get ballpark of course, but fuck me are they a pain in the ass.

i have only ever eye-balled new rifle sights and handgun sights and have been able to print on regular size silhouette at 30 yards. how much ammo is a bore sighting laser going to save you? 5 rounds maybe?

I had a .308 one and it wasn't all that useful, if you rotated it in the chamber it'd be 3-4 inches away from where it was before even just at like 20 feet. I've found more use for it playing with my dog

i've asked this myself a few times, but was always told its a tossup
if you can, just look down the barrel of the gun & set the sight to what its on, it works well enough
not all guns let you see down the barrel though, so just put some irons at battle-zero on those i guess

I've had more luck. All of my sightmark laser boresights have passed the rotation test. I've even 3d printed spacers to use a smaller 9mm boresight in larger bores where a boresight isn't readily available. I can confirm the 9mm boresight does stick to the lands in all my 9mm pistols, but not so bad a chopstick can't push it out.

I like the advantage of being able to get everything close before even hitting the range. The $30 is worth the time savings. I can aim out into the yard in the evening and get irons, scopes, red dots, etc. within a few clicks of zero. The time spent at the range is just long enough to confirm and refine the boresight zero.

Can you use them to zero iron sights and red dots?
Anonymous No.64201036 [Report]
>>64201005
its not really for zeroing its just a place to start from
Anonymous No.64201041 [Report]
They’re all “okay.” They’ll get you on paper at 50 yards at best, and then you sight it in as you need. This is from my experience with plenty of different laser bore sights.

They're all shit
Anonymous No.64201261 [Report]
>>64201005
You can use them on any kind of sight. But like the other anon said, they aren't a zeroing tool. Their job is to get you close so you can zero on paper, but honestly even that is a slim benefit because you can do the same thing just looking down the barrel on most guns.
Anonymous No.64201543 [Report] >>64206931
>noooo don't use them they're bad!!
They'll get you to minute of home intruder in 60 seconds without needing to go to the range, what's the problem?

I got drunk one day and shot a laser bore sight out of my AR. It was the long kind that hangs out of the muzzle. I don't know where it went but the end of my barrel mushroomed, no other damage was done to the rifle.
Anonymous No.64203135 [Report]
How do you zero. 4x scope on a short range anyway

I thought they were bullshit but I purchased a cheap 9mm one from Amazon for 12 bucks and it zeroed my pcc, literally right on the money, no further adjusting needed. Maybe I just got lucky but I'm a believer in them now.

What sight did you have? Howd you zero it
Anonymous No.64207327 [Report]

agreed on the x39 boresight laser, total junk. You're supposed to use the little screws on the side to align the laser (how could you ever line it up perfectly by eye?), but even if you align it perfectly, the act of putting it in the chamber and closing the bolt is enough to loosen it, and your boresight laser is suddenly worthless.
tldr waste of money do not buy dead on arrival
Anonymous No.64207495 [Report] >>64207737
>>64207315
Just put the laser inside the chamber, closed the bolt on it softly, then aimed it against the wall across my house from almost my front door to the backyard wall. Then just clicked away until the red dot aligned perfectly with the laser. Took it to the range and it was dead on from all ranges up to 25 yards, max distance of the indoor range I was at.

Sorry about the pic, don't know why it's coming out like that, not gonna fix it, but you clearly see it's a romeo 5 with a cheapo bore sighter.

I dont get it... how do you know the laser and your dot lined up? Im dumb
Anonymous No.64210589 [Report]

Either troll or nogunz but I'll bite. With the laser in the bore now beaming out of your barrel, you look through your sight. You will now see two dots, the sight's dot and the laser dot. Then you just adjust your elevation and windage knobs until both dots are perfectly aligned and appear to be one single dot. With a scope it will be the cross hair aligning with the dot.
