If you have enough suitable ones, yea. Otherwise, the difficulties of both transporting enough supplies and delivering it efficiently and safely would cripple any real effort. Modern technologies such as mini submarines could ease the difficulties of such missions, but it would be expensive and put valuable assets in danger. Not to mention it takes time, something an island being captured may not have.

It wasnt tried on Guadalcanal, and it was too late for those yellow suckers anyways, they were wasting away by the time serious relief efforts were attempted and only 1/3 of the garrison survived to be evacuated.

didn't for either Malta or Italian Africa

Malta at least did not consume so much supply so the sub runs were slightly less inefficient, but ultimately, supply by submarine sucks

They used destroyers, not submarines. And the way the Japs went about it was almost comically retarded.

>Because the destroyers typically used were not configured for cargo handling, many supplies were sealed inside steel drums lashed together and simply pushed into the water without the ships stopping; ideally, the drums would float ashore or were picked up by barge. However, many drums were lost or damaged; a typical night in December 1942 resulted in 1500 drums being rolled into the sea, with only 300 recovered.

btw the drums usually weren't cleaned out properly beforehand meaning that stuff like drinking water was being contaminated with oil.
