My brain keeps seeing them having two vertically stacked engines in this image like a Lightning because of the curve and shadow above the actual single engine.

Luv me a Harrier. Simple as. However even I understand that Argentine A4s were clay pigeons when faced with AIM-9L Sea Harriers with all mod cons like Blux Fox etc.
An upgraded Skyhawk with radar, HUD, RWR, AIM-9L etc would give a Sea Harrier a run for its money.
Look up RNZAF project Kahu if you want to know more.

I'm saying this as a Bong, if the Mutts didn't embargo the Argies' jet fuel. The war would have been a spectacular failure and Thatcher would have 0 legacy

Fun fact. The Skyhawk can carry the same bomb load as a B-17.
>>64414363
Singaporean.
>>64414928
Argentine Skyhawks gave the bongs a run for their money. The Skyhawks were ship hunters, not fighters. The Argies were let down by their bombs, whose detonators were set up wrongly.

it was mainly the fuel embargo, the Argentine air force and navy didn't have enough fuel to engage in sustained combat so, most of the time they just sortied to an RN ship, dropped a bomb with a faulty fuse then got shot down by Sea Harriers while they egressed.

If they had enough fuel then the Mirages would have mangled every Sea Harrier in the task force

as if the americans had any real choice between supporting their historical ally and not caring.
besides the problem with argie airplanes wasnt lack of fuel but the fact that the falklands were so far they could barely get there and back so their time on target was very limited.

The fa50 is faster and is the current modern day A4 skyhawk. This is now a fa50 thread. It's also the next Navy trainer.

Hate the Argies, but the Argie Naval Aviation were heroes with what they did considering the resources they had. If they didn't have bombs with faulty fuses, they would have put the whole invasion plan in trouble.

What they needed to do is smash the fuse's arming delay mechanism with a hammer, so it would instantly go hot the moment it came off the rail.
Sort of what hajis were doing in the sandbox, to get below minimum arming distance with RPG rounds.
They would've likely lost a bunch of planes due to blast radius, but the RN taskforce would end up missing several ships.
