Looks to be longer range than an 81mm mortar (5 miles vs 3.5), not that much less portable, and can achieve saturation coverage catching infantry out in the open whereas mortar fire will have them scurrying for cover after the first hit.

It's a stay of execution at best, because Putin will just go again. Zelensky has never been totally against giving up land. He just wants concrete security guarantees for doing it. I.e, NATO. WHich he isn't gonna get, so he's not going to give up the land and Europe doesn't want Russia to build up thanks to pro-Russian trade deals that Trump is going to give Putin when the deal is done to try again in 5-10 years. Which they will. Remember, Ukraine is already crippled by hundreds of millions of dollar debt it has to give to USA as war reparations and it will lose its entire manufacturing centre as well. So how exactly is it suppose to resist in 5-10 years after Trump has helped Russia rebuild? It can't.

No, if Ukraine is forced to be neutral, demilitarized and denazified and ends all its laws against the Russian minority then the root causes of the conflict will have been resolved and there would be no purpose for Russia to invade again a second time.

The whole objective of the Ukrainian plan was to cut off and destroy the Russian troops on the right bank of the river, it was a total failure as the Russians stopped their offensive and dealt huge casualties on the Ukrainians before orderly withdrawing across the river, rendering the Ukrainian objective a failure. The recapture of Kherson itself was only a secondary objective for the Ukrainians.
