I fired one of those once. It doesn't help with aim, if anything it just makes it more awkward.
I get the idea though, those are for tourist ranges where literally any random person can sign up to try firing a gun, so they don't kill someone else or themselves, accidentally or deliberately.

As much as it's about stopping a deliberate shooting it's also to stop accidents by making sure the dangerous end is always pointing downrange.
It's not like you have to use those at proper ranges with your own weapons or anything.
