traded 380 for 22LR. both work fine for self defense. all you need is the ability to penetrate vital tissue

The LCP or the Wuben G5? The LCP goes bang so I can't complain. Shit trigger and sights though. The Wuben G5 is awesome at $20. I love the rotatable head. Super light too. I use it as my sole flashlight when I camp. My only complaint is that the clip just isn't strong enough for the synthetic fabric shorts I usually wear. I just shove it in me pocket. Also, the RGB sounds stupid but it's fun to play with. I wish it had UV though.

Mine has UV that I never use but sometimes I wish I had a red light option to avoid disrupting my night vision. The price gave me pause but it sounds pretty useful. Thanks for sharing.

The G5 has a crap ton of colors but no UV. I guess it's because they'd have to add a third chip to cover the whole spectrum. I mostly wanted the UV for thrift store shopping. I want a uranium glass beer glass and shot glass. How do you like yours?

Adequate for a compact pistol if you mind its limitations. Can be had in extra compact size if you don't mind snappy recoil and dubious ballistics.

More tissue damage and a larger hole is still an advantage, and you DO get appreciably better wounding with good hollowpoints in 9mm, .38Spc .40, .45, 10mm, etc, you don't HAVE to give up good penetration for good expansion.
.380 is light and slow enough that this can be iffy, particularly when talking about the subcompacts with the short barrels, which is why people look at stuff like the Underwood XPs and what not instead.

I really like the dimensions in that it's easy to hold but fits nicely clipped in my pocket, and that it has a lock option so I've never looked down to see my pocket glowing like with some lights I've carried. It has UV and a laser but I've never needed either of those. It was a gift from a friend that I didn't think I needed but after carrying it a while I like it a lot.

3" or longer. Any less and both expansion and penetration suffer greatly. Everyone who doesn't care about expansion should still want adequate penetration. People will carry a .380 with a 2" barrel and be surprised when they get less penetration than they would have with a .32 ACP because the .380 just isn't travelling fast enough in those really short barrels.
