there's not really such a thing as a starter gun or entry level gun, they are all more or less the same

so get yourself like a s&w mod 10, or a glock, or a deagle or something...no discernible difference really

I suggest you find a rental gun range and try as many pistols as you can to figure out what you like best. If you require a recommendation I'll give you three

i recommend a polymer framed striker fired handgun in 9mm or 380 glock, cz, beretta, sw, springfield, and fn all make these
i would avoid taurus and ruger if its your first gun

no shit, Colt Detective Special. Maybe the Nu-Colt Cobra would be fine, I just think they're ugly. If six rounds of .38 Special won't fix your problem then you're in trouble that a Glock won't fix.
