Yak-130M
I don't understand the purpose of this.

It's a trainer that is also used for killing civilians.

It's literally designed and built to be a trainer. It can also do light attack roles.
Hence the
>killing civilians
part of my post since that's about the only combat it's seen so far.
Supposedly the M is going to be used to shoot down drones. As well as, you know, being a trainer.

It it encounters any anti aircraft fire they will be very small.

Yeah. Its pretty normal for training aircraft to be used in ground attack roles by militarys on a budget. The Tucano/Super Tucano, Texan 2, the L-39, pretty much everything Aermacchi ever made, etc.

Built so the russians can finally have a good looking jet

They had promised a light attack version as far back as 2011 to try and rekindle its sales and now they announced it again. We'll have to see if they really are able to start production, considering Syria gave up on receiving them even after the war ended and the nose laser designator and the AESA radar were promised years ago and never saw the light of day outside of brochures.
It's disappointing that from the specs they shared they still haven't fitted the body with chaff and flares, so they still need to sacrifice 2 pylons for them on top of not being able to mount full lenght payloads in the centerline one due to its landing gear doors.

>good looking jet
A gift they received from Aermacchi. The original mockup (Yak-UTS) was quite the ugly duckling

Why wouldn't you just keep making Su-25 for this task? All the bugs have already been worked out.

If you need a modern advanced trainer with FBW, avionics comparable to a real fighter and not oversized then it's ok, modifying a Su-25 for that role wouldn't be cheap either. And not developing any new aircraft is stupid if you have the engineers doing nothing as alternative.
The problem isn't creating something new but having a broken system to create new things. Reusing old designs will not fix that structural problem.

If it has a smol nose it has a smol radar and is usually a trainer

In some countries basic ACM and ground attack tactics are done on a intermediate light jet trainer before a new pilot get his type training on whatever aircraft they are going to fly in squadron.

This. It's also a LIFT so, thirdie pilots will practice in it instead of spending the fuel and maintenance budget on expensive MIGs and Sukhois

hopefully, this will be used for kiling dissident russian civilians during a turmoil.
