Caused by extending 2008 rate reductions effectively indefinitely coupled with a dogshit initial response to Covid which meant to keep line from going down the incoming admin HAD to keep stupidly low interest rates, and when inflation finally hit after 15 years of bad fiscal policy (caused, again, by shitty republican policy making) the admin did the only thing it could and asked the feds to raise the rates. Which it did, and inflation went down, and now the current admin is shitting his diaper and pounding his fists and demanding things go back the way they were despite knowing exactly what will happen.
