There is a lot of play and then once then once you're actually getting into it there is still a lot of travel before it actually breaks.
For EDC I think it is good because you have to be very intentional about pressing it and likewise firing the gun.
All of the things that make it good for an EDC trigger make it bad for a gaymer trigger.
Overall, I like it, it works, and I don't want to mess with it.

When it comes to criticisms of the elcan, specifically the 1-4, one of the arguments that gets frequently made is that the BDC lines are too thick and therefore obscure targets.

Its faster to pick up at the pertinent engagement distances of a 1/4 optic. Doubly so if you are in a mixed lighting condition of harsh shadows or similar.
At distance you might be occluding but ive had no problems picking out 2/3 IPSCs at 600m and splashing them with an 11.5" 5.56. With a 13" 308 its almost mechanically boring.

If you genuinely intend to be running the elcan out beyond that probably 300-400m distance you'd probably be better suited with a different optic. Similarly, if you want to shoot bullseyes you'd be much better off with a higher mag scope for the same pricepoint.

Because people don't know any better and it's what the navy seals do so it must be important.
It's also easier to teach bad CQB to people who don't know any better and therefore don't have a way of properly assessing quality of instruction.
Most instructors can't shoot any good themselves and it's much easier for someone, even without any experience, to know what accuracy is the shots are either made or they're not.
Plus most people get into shooting beyond bench rest or USPSA type matches because they are doomer / prepper types so this lets them live out their fantasy.
