Now that we’ve solved pizza as an MRE, when could we start seeing American-chinese food as a menu?

I’d argue all americans are familar with it and it more american than chinese at this point.

>panda e orange chicken MRE
that'd probably give the Chinese a fucking conniption if they ever saw that. We should start research post haste

>solved pizza as an MRE
Picrelated: my face when I draw pizza slice.
I think Natick should go back and solve it harder before moving on to Chinese.
That said, I'm sceptical they could make any fried item stand the test of time, which is kind of a big draw for me in that genre.
Stir fry I could see being super popular, also noodle dishes are kind of woefully unrepresented.
I'd be for it, but I also doubt they're going to consider including menus tangentially related to anyone that could obviously become opponent number one short term.

Apparently for MRE46 program which is coming in 2026, they're ditching beef taco filling, pork sausage patty and jalapeno pepper jack beef patty.
This is terrible news for me because I actually like all of those, the maple pork patty is one of my favorites. I could stand dropping taco filling just because it gives me gas that can wake the fucking dead and there are other, better Mex options.

Supposedly replacements will be Cuban beef picadillo with vegetables, buffalo-style chicken, and Thai red curry with chicken and rice.
So we're at least making moves into the Asiatic sphere of dishes?

Not really, I always see chinese tour groups going to straight to Panda Express. Its kind of like ordering a burger when youre overseas, you want something familiar but also to see how they put their own spin on it

some orange chicken and noodle or rice might not be so bad. been making that up at home for a while now, simple and cheap.

never had it, but sounds like as good an excuse as any to make some and see how it is.

>Now that we’ve solved pizza as an MRE
We've managed to get shelf-stable cheese and pizza sauce onto incredibly shitty bread. That's a step, but not remotely solved.

But to your other point, Chinese takeout is largely made up of delicious heavily processed and preserved shit anyway, so the leap to MRE menus seems a good match.

I hope not, that was one of my favorites. It was basically really good beanless chili.

Still healthier than the botulism&gutter-oil flavored green pork the Chinese put in their own MREs.
Anonymous No.64481622 [Report]
I remember having Asian Style Beef Strips with Vegetables. Not great desu. Chinese food should be easy to do as MRE cuz just put some sweet and savory sauce on meat chunks, the rice would be shitty but that's fine.

Picadillo should be a good MRE.

>I hope not, that was one of my favorites
Unfortunately I think it's as good as toast, friend.
It wasn't my favorite, but it was always good, one of those ones that you could eat once a week and not feel put off about it.
It just really made me fart so bad you'd swear I was dieing.

Honestly I would have preferred they just ditch the plain pizza slice and kept either the pork maple patty or the jalapeno beef.
Maybe get rid of goulash too, the "sopako chemical" smell of that one is enough to turn my stomach without a bite.

I ate at a KFC in China in the 1990s. They served me what could have only possibly been a fried rat. Like, did they think I wouldn't notice that the chicken had four legs and no wings? Fuck's sake.

I wish they'd just spring for a C box, and have 36 different menus.
That would be fucking killer.
We could bring back the old classics while hanging on to the existing winners.
Unmatched variety worldwide.

What's the best way to heat up an mre if the frh didn't work? Boil water and drop the pouch in? Open the pouch and heat it in a pan? Open it put it on a plate and microwave?
Anonymous No.64484137 [Report]
>>64484020
>Boil water and drop the pouch in?
That's my preferred method. You can also try putting some salt in the frh to liven it up.
Anonymous No.64484145 [Report]
Orange chicken requires recent cooking to have crunch or structure. It would be soggy as an mre.
Breading in a sauce or cooked in moist heat is a bad combo.
Kung pao and similar stir fry would work better.
Not sure eating the food of the enemy is ideal either. You try to encourage soldiers to see the enemy as less human so they feel less emotion imposing your government's will against them, not celebrate their cuisine and culture.

i mean, you either get the dog or die of famine, i'm sure 99% of people will choose the dog (don't read the shit they did in the trenches during WWI, it's even worse)

My huge thing is why dog instead of something like pig/hog/boar, goat, or sheep?
I mean look - I realize dog is kind of a traditional food there, but in terms of ease of raising/feeding, pigs are fucking hard to beat (they'll literally eat trash, anything at all), and both goats or sheep could produce milk, cheese, and useful wool or hair for textiles.

It just seems kind of stupid to specifically farm raise dogs for food vs other creatures.
That's not even mentioning the optics involved, even their allies in Russia half see them as fucked up for canning dog meat like it's a fucking treat.

Most Russians shouldn't be criticising others for eating dog. Especially the Easterners.
