Quick reminder, Russia has made it a little over 20 miles in almost two years.

That short distance has had a price tag of horrific numbers of young men and obscene amounts of weapons and armor. At this rate it will take 3-4 years just to reach Pavlohrad assuming current rates of advancement are kept up. Current rates are however not sustainable as production of vehicles and equipment cannot keep up with losses. Raw manpower isn't a solution when unsupported and using outdated equipment. Pokrovsk will surely be touted as some glorious victory but the truth is simple, it's yet another meat grinder.

The best possible outcome for Russia is a Pyrrhic victory. Ukraine is running an exemplary war of attrition.

A more personal outcome of fights like this one and the war in general is we will surely not have a Russian/Soviet milsurp market as good as it was before the war anytime soon, if ever again. If you don't already have a nugget or ten you've missed the train.

I'd expect Ukraine to keep the lion's share. Best we'd get is parts kits missing portions because they got blown up. Both nations are probably going to hold on to everything they can. Ukraine will hold onto the majority of it expecting another invasion sooner or later. Russia will hold onto everything because they're undoubtedly scraping the barrel as it is, in a few years we'll be seeing massed nugget charges if it keeps up.

that is genuinely an issue
russia only has so many bodies and so many artillery shells to throw before they run flat out or the economy overheats and falls apart
it would do russia little good to beat ukraine 20 years from now when their economy collapses in 10

You're not winning at all.

A slow grind is fine and dandy if you can keep your casualties and other losses down while doing it. Unfortunately for Russia their losses are, again, horrific and obscene.

You have no business discussing weaponry and warfare.

Considering that Russia's best hope is to win as fast as possible (in fact, their only realistic chance to achieve victory was to literally defeat Ukraine in three days before anyone could react to the sucker punch), that means they are not going to win at all. Can you imagine Russia fighting for five more years? Ten years? Twenty years?
They will leave.

I think its just their target audience. They know they can't 'convince' anyone knowledgeable about the subject at hand so they don't even bother.

What's left is convincing the retards. The end result is that their core supporters are fucking retarded. Also why they get so much support in shitholes where the average IQ is below 90. Russian propaganda is retard bait at this point.

What were Russia's objectives for this war again? Russia already lost quite a while ago, given that NATO's presence in the region has significantly expanded, while Russia's ability to wage war against NATO or China has collapsed to essentially nothing. What's happening right now is that Russia is stuck in a devastatingly costly and pointless quagmire with no hope of pulling off anything other than a symbolic win long after any strategic benefits of defeating the Ukraine have evaporated.

>>64487722
Pulling out of the Ukraine without a decisive victory has a high chance of toppling the government with the political fallout, otherwise a pragmatist like putin would have bailed quite a while ago. Russia can't afford to lose and they can't afford to win, all they can do now is keep grinding on and hope that they can manufacture a political victory somehow before they're forced to fully submit to china as a vassal state.

Russia's objectives, at most generous, are taking as much territory they can get, freezing the conflict, and then being a permeant thorn in Ukraine's side to ensure they can't join NATO just like they did with Georgia.
Only they can't in this case because Ukraine may just join NATO anyway.

The other problem is Europe, the aid and weapons will keep flowing, they got lucky in Georgia by just setting 'achievable' annexations and freezing it before anyone could really fire the fuck up and burn them. What they learned though is their military was hot trash and needed to modernise, so they threw out the great spitballed wunder waffles of EW, supersanics and battalion tac groups.
Unfortunately that was only half of the solution
The other half and the actual problem was of course- Russians in the military
Which by and large is still just FASD, corruption, sodomy and some very, very low IQ's
Anonymous No.64487756 [Report] >>64487803

>Russia's objectives
Were spelled at the start. Toppling the Ukrainian government and installing a puppet regime ('denazification') while taking over the 4 oblasts they formally 'annexed' to the Russian federation (they still do not fully control a single one) and 'demilitarization' coupled with 'keeping back' NATO from Russian borders.

Safe to say Ukraine will never again have a pro-russian government, their territorial ambitions have not been realized and Ukraine is better armed and supported than ever before while NATO expanded towards the Russian border with the joining of Sweden and Finland.

Basically zero objectives achieved. Their only 'success' is partialy occupying the 4 annexed regions. Basically the bar couldn't be lower.

>Russia's objectives, at most generous, are taking as much territory they can get, freezing the conflict, and then being a permeant thorn in Ukraine's side to ensure they can't join NATO just like they did with Georgia.
You're thinking too small. Russia's actual objectives were
>1) Demonstrate that Russia is a real military power that is willing to fight.
>2) Demonstrate that aligning with NATO is bad for your health, while NATO itself is weak and obsolete.
>2) Force regime change in the Ukraine after repeated failures to politically annex the Ukraine via Viktor Yanukovych or material support of the donbass rebellion.
>3) Wage a quick and cheap blitzkrieg against the Ukraine to demostrate Russia's military prowess and make NATO and unaligned states think twice about continuing to engage sabre rattling with the Russian federation.
>Create a buffer state between NATO and Russia.

What the war has actually achieved:
>Made the Russian military look like an ineffectual joke.
>Revitalized NATO's reputation and sparked a re militarization of NATO and EU states.
>Devastated Russia's military and economic power to the point where they cannot hope to successfully fight a peer conflict, nor continue to throw it's weight around in Eastern Europe.
>Convinced bordering states, Finland and Sweden to join NATO.
>Ensured that the Ukraine will never allow another Russian puppet government for the foreseeable future.

They didn't just fail at every one of their objectives, but instead have achieved the worst possible outcome for each.
