Yes, but it's mostly viable if you use it as a launch for your own civilian career and future. The GI bill and whatever specialization you might be taught in the military are what you should use when you get out. You absolutely should not seek to build a career in the military.

I will say this. I did 4 years and basically spent no money, used the TSP extensively which is basically a military 401k.
I bought a ton of guns and ammo instead of alcohol and 25% apr cars like so many others and had a shit ton of money after the fact.
I flunked out of college before but after the military I had a new found ability to focus and completed my degree.

That said, there's a lot of micromanaging bullshit that would drive most NEETs insane.

You're partially right. Many Western civilization(s) effectively died in the 20th century, and only now are we realizing it. They were replaced by the global liberal world order, which reigned over the world with unrivaled power that no state could have imagined. It ruled for 35+ years, and it's ultimately failed miserably and is now dying. it has destabilized much of the world, Europe, East Asia, the MENA region, India, and soon Africa all facing declining birth rates, housing crises, migration crises, and climate issues.
What happens next is hard to say, probably some form of regional caudillismo, more radical governments, and new wars. We might even see nuclear conflicts.

I think it definitely can.

The military forces you to have a more structured life, and soon healthy habits become easy like 2nd nature things.

Some people need a drill sergeant or other person with authority to yell at them to get the heck out of bed or else. This is one very good thing the military can provide, and if you dont get out bed you'll have to do some stupid task for punishment like cleaning the floors with only a hand rag.

After a while, such enforcement of a disciplined life can make a very disciplined and healthy mentality that can help you achieve great things in life, and also be very attractive to people.

For the lower enlisted the pay really isn’t that bad if you consider that they’re getting free room and board, and they’re basically unskilled labor so they’d probably be working a similar shit tier job otherwise in the civilian world. It’s really E7-E9 are the grades where you’re getting shafted on pay because they have a similar level of responsibility to their direct officer counterpart but don’t get paid nearly as well.

I was a truck driver and yeah the pay was good, but you dealt with people who were dumber than dirt. It never really felt like a career you could emotionally or mentally mature. The military? It's that huge piece of humble pie if you give it your all.
