Nuclear Power Plants and War
For me, as a nuclear worker, the security of our current nuclear power plants is obvious.
But people keep asking, so let’s talk about it.
This is very basic stuff about the physics and structure of nuclear power plants — nothing secret, don’t worry.
So, what does the security system of our plants consist of?
First of all — it’s a f**ing* strategic site.
It produces a huge amount of energy and doesn’t need a constant coal supply.
So we’ll defend them to the last and fight for them tooth and nail.
Around each plant there’s a system of layered defense.
The territory of the plant itself is better protected than military bases:
concrete fences 5 meters high, barbed wire, guard towers you won’t just walk past, and checkpoints with armed guards.
There’s always a military base nearby with our soldiers.
Plus, an anti-missile system.
When we were at the Rovno plant, we saw all this — future soldiers showing off the military hardware, proud of it.
Getting through all that to launch a missile or sabotage the place would be very difficult.
And there’s no point anyway. The goal of war is to destroy military infrastructure, not power generation — and taking down power plants isn’t that easy either.
So yeah, nuking a nuclear power plant makes no sense — it’s just a source of energy, not a weapon.
Protecting it is far more important.
And we, with our teeth clenched, won’t give them up.
kek thanks for the security update
