>Why even have fighter jets at all then
To control the unmanned craft at short range in environments of heavy electronic warfare. In a world of perfect comms we'd just remote control all planes from an office in DC.
And the reason for human control is that humans are still a hell of lot smarter than a completely unmanned craft. And even a fighter pilot that costs millions of dollars to train is still only a fraction of the cost of a cutting edge warplane.
So even though unmanned gains some advantages like not caring about g-forces or not needing a cockpit, an unmanned plane is still a shittier plane that still costs almost as much to get the same capability.
The biggest advantage is just being able to sacrifice it or use it as a decoy without giving a crap when it blows up.

If you image search the CEO of lockheed, boeing, raytheon etc they're all wearing the same nice blue suit and tie, while this guy is aggressively dressing like a massive nerd from a silicon valley startup.
Now, given Anduril's entire stated gimmick of how they're going to shake up the defense industry, what image do you think he's trying to project? Unlike jobs he's not selling a fashion brand.
