i almost dated a ex-military transgirl a few yrs ago; she was very sweet i hope shes doing well; wish i had met her in person but i was too stuck on my previous love still; spiraling to my death

Ex-"military" myself (Army Civilian. Paid by the DoD, we don't bear arms, nor get deployed, but the army is who we work with, and we're subject to the CoC.) Not US, but the equivalent of 17C here. I "enlisted" after my transition, post op, papers clean. I was stupid enough to have voluntarily disclosed what am I to the military intelligence operative conducting my interview for my clearances. Officially, I was fired without a reason. But I never forget the words of my CO: "I don't want this kind of shit in my fucking base!"

I loved that job. Love it still, and if they extended a job offer, even way below my current salary, I would go back in a heartbeat.

People like those are a totally different case from trans people who are fully living their lives as the opposite sex. Anything out in the open can't be used to blackmail you, just ask Trump with the sexual assault convictions, bankruptcies, quid-pro-quo corruption, etc. What everyone already knows about you makes you untouchable.
