i (mtf late 20s) am friends with a moid at work who must be like 31 or 32 i forget? and his gf is 20 years old. this personally doesn't bother me that much, i've met the girl irl and didn't get the impression there was a power imbalance between them as she seemed relatively mature for her age, but this group of girls at work (who are all like 22-25) constantly bitch about it behind his back. i can't tell if it's performative or if they genuinely think a 20 year old can't make her own decisions. what do you think /lgbt/?

theyre just jealous that men prefer younger women and not ran-through hags like them
its pure sour grapes

flip the genders, would it still be power imbalanced?

I think that like it's conceivable for there not to be an imbalance in reality, but it's impossible for the guy to know her interiority like that and so he can't really know and so it kind of casts him in a poor light
Any disapproval I guess I have stems more from the fact that it's a 30 something year old guy into a 20 year old than thinking that the 20 year old is incapable of make decisions or whatever

this is sort of what i think. what's even more surprising is that the girls in question are all french (international company) and we all know that culture is traditionally pretty tolerant of such arrangements, if anything in france the girl would be 15 probably.

i think it depends on the people involved more than anything else. ultimately i'm someone who supports teenagers making the decision to transition (as i did) so it'd be kind of hypocritical for me to suggest a 20 year old person regardless of gender couldn't choose their own partner, right?

i think there's no problem on her end but he is a bit creepy, id be uncomfortable around someone who is that much older than their partner

why is a 30 year old guy being into a 20 year old wrong though? it's not like she's prepubescent, the age of consent in this jurisdiction is well below that. even in my christcucked home country that has one of the highest ages of consent in europe at 17 she's been legal for years.

>law is the basis of morality
a 30 year old being into a 20 year old is wrong because to a well adjusted 30 year old, a 20 year old should seem like a kid

there isn't a straight man on earth who couldn't be attracted to a woman ten years younger than him at least in theory, the only difference between him and them is that he acted it unlike the men my dad's age who ogle me every day on public transport or in stores.

when i was 20 i was already an emigrant and had worked for four years. i definitely wasn't a kid in any sense of the term, i had quite a few friends who were 30+.

a well adjusted 30 year old might be attracted to 20 year olds but would go crazy dating one. if they don't they are emotionally stunted or get the wrong thing out of relationships, red flag either way

ultimately it should always be case by case basis but in the case of almost everyone ive ever met such an age gap would be cringeworthy
