i came as trans today to my best friend and he told me i was mentally ill, that he was hurt, and that we should never speak of this again. he has this priest friend that can allow me to live in his chapel and he told me that he will help me with my illiness.

I came out to my ex-gf at around 21 or 22. She had the same reaction as your friend, so I pushed everything down and repressed. Now, at 33, I am going to start HRT soon and am in the psych traject.

Don't repress, the feelings won't go away in my experience. The cure to this 'illness' is to own up on your identity. It's you after all, if you feel this is the right direction.

If you need guidance, you and your gender identity - dara hoffman fox, has helped me quite a lot to come to terms with it.
