My birth name is gender neutral so I never needed to find my “true name.” Also ive never met anyone named Gertrude OR sapphire. Who the fuck is gonna name their daughter Gertrude in the 21st century?

One of the perks of being a black American is that I can just pull some shit out of my ass and it would still fit in with the gen pop.
Sharmeeka, Latandra, Caminka, Divinity, Essence, after FFS I'm gonna do some acid and pick a name :)

i just asked my mom what she would've called me if i had been born a girl (she wanted a daughter anyway) and then ended up going with my other great grandma instead bc we were both actually alive to meet each other
i figured itd be fine bc ive seen a handful of girls my age with my chosen name so it wouldnt be too much of a generational mismatch and also appropriate for my country
i wont be posting my name btw because people might identify me!

First name: I looked up a list of the most popular girl names in the year I was born and picked the one I thought would fit me the most.
Last name: One of my favorite vidya characters has a very generic and nondescript last name that I thought sounded nice with my new chosen name. So I just adopted that.

My new full name is extremely boring and you would never be able to clock me as a tranner from it. This should be the standard for all mtfs honestly.

Why would any woman cis or trans name change their name to something that sounds like someone's great grandmother?

because that's how a lot of names are traditionally picked? its pretty common in europe at least to honor your great grandparents by giving your kids their name
this also results in the names rotating generationally to where suddenly having your great grandmother's name is modern instead of sounding like it was 80 years ago
remember that today's sarahs and annas are gonna be great grandmothers to someone one day

okay im going to make this as an excuse to talk about my gf
it fits so well with her personality too, she's almost like the embodiment of the night as a person. She's quiet and unknown when you experience her for the first time. she can be dangerous and petty, but she's sensitive and comforting when you give yourself to her
she has certain knowledge beyond my own and she wows me with her beauty. I think she's the prettiest in purple and blue
She holds a certain messy elegance that's only accentuated with her femininity. Her sparkle is truly contagious

I strive to be her sun, her shine, but in reality I'm the one reflecting her light. She protects me as much as I provide for her. She's truly the most perfect woman in my eyes

Is it faketrans if I don't actually care that much about names, pronouns or even clothes? It's more about being comfortable in my body.

Ideally I would like to be able to pass socially as well, but to be honest it is far less important than being comfortable in my body.

meh, not really. for example, HSTS are much less likely to care about that and are often touted as the “trutrans”. also once you become a tranny oldfag you are more confident in your own sense of self that others can’t shatter it easily.

I mean, I'm not sure if I'm just coping. I'd LIKE to pass enough to be able to fully transition socially, but it feels too theatrical given the realities of how I look, you know?

i think that being realistic is the best defense mechanism for protecting yourself from being disappointed. the reality is, the vast majority of trans women cannot and will not ever fully pass. that is not to say you won’t be able to build a meaningful life despite that and if you’re in an affirming safe place you can still thrive.

transition is something you do for yourself. if socially transitioning and having others use a preferred name and pronouns is what makes you feel like you then that is what you should do.

i’ve transitioned a while ago and i definitely get the clothes thing. early on in transition i felt that i needed to wear women’s clothing to socially signal that i am a woman but now that i can look like a woman in baggy clothes with a baseball cap i don’t feel that social pressure anymore and can wear whatever jd most comfy.

I named myself after an anime character so what of it
Best part is, that anime character is ALSO a real life given name (in my language anyway) mostly associated with elderly women

i love the idea that trannies discover their "true name" according to this person, like it's spiritual and not you just choosing a sound you like and relate to. i've never heard a trans person talk about it like that.
