>>40096930 (OP)hiiii im a tranny whos in grad school for psych at the moment and a teacher assistant for a one (1) Dr. **** ****** at uni ver site of ******* I will preface saying im 22 soon 23 and have been trans since 13 and pass 99.9% of the time (other genderfucky people seem to clock me based on height + my interests lol) im not sure how age will affect your results but if you like psych Id reccomend going to college undecided and getting your gen eds done.
Id HIGHLY recommend getting that shit done at community college. If ur poor enough you'll even get money BACK from financial aid so you're paid 1-2k a semester to go to school. Community college is kind of icky and lacks proper support for careers in your major 99% of the time and in psych getting those credentials and experience in is super duper important. Also community college, at least mine left me in a sort of limbo since it sometimes feels like you're stuck not getting anywhere opposed to uni where everyone is really pushing shit in your face.
As for the major itself there are an army of women who don't know what the fuck they're doing with their lives and dive into psych. A lot of them actually manage to find the will to graduate. But a bachelors in this field is useless. If you pursue psych, dont plan- but make it out that grad school is MANDATORY. While youre doing this major youre also gonna need to throw yourself at any lab or research opportunity possible to have some skin in the game too.
The class work is rewarding. Id recommend the books "Thinking fast and slow" and "elementary guide to psychoanalysis" and whatever fields of psych you find intrestng find an author with actual honest to god credentials that doesnt write pop psych and read their work. Read their studies. As for the trans part as a diagnosed aspie and BPDemon It does actually help my brain to understand itself and my emotions. Im focusing on research, So im not clinical but! Theres growing demand for LGBT people- (cont)
