Their brain doesn't work well enough to be able to talk well (or at all depending on phase). All sorts of things are being messed up so whatever has to do with identity or body mapping would be the least of their issues.

Now another interesting idea there, it seems unlikely to me that Schiavo's gender identity would be flipped to male. However it was certainly switched to nothing. This differs from the OP and the theoretical detrans case where they want to detrans due to the damage. This would be more like they become neutral as the part of the brain that controls GD was destroyed rather than flipped. That said a person with a destroyed gender identity brain region/bodymap AND memory loss except for events from say their (pre trans) childhood would be very confused why they are suddenly a girl.

Also no. I can understand that someone might have a good reason for detrooning and as long as they aren’t the type who tries to groom others into it I could still be friends with one, but the concept itself is still pretty disturbing to think about for me and that would probably be enough to veto any potential attraction from developing.

The opposite can happen too but isn't talked about because it's a rarer reason for being trans.
I.e. boomers with dementia becoming boomerhons *because* their sense of gd (tho more likely sense of control/restraint/gaining impulsivity in older age) went away or altered.

I know one boomer like this, had prostate cancer, no trans thoughts before, had prostatectomy, trans thoughts and less sense of self as a guy.
