I was just playing this JRPG and my ears went UP when they just introduced a new character, Kilika Rourant. Instantly knew she was a tranny. Looked it up. “Meli Grant” - trans woman.

I watched the clip, she sounds very similar to the sky jp voice she had (you needed to play the Evo versions on the ps vita or a pc mod for those voiced tho). In that version she had a low raspy voice, even when played by a cis jp VA, which is why she sounds a little male. If you weren't a schizo she sounds normal tho, they made her sound like that because she is a secret spy for the calvard government. Hiring a tranny va made sense because they are good at the raspy voice but still sound female.

1. Start from the beginning, trails in the sky fc or the 1st (theyre the same). It's getting a remake in the fall so thats the best place to start. A lot of the "overwriting" is adding detail to a dense world that you need to see from the beginning.

2. If you play the game with the Evo voices (which won't be present in the remake but you can mod them in the original) she is supposed to have a raspy voice which is why she sounds manly, even in the Japanese version.
