I grew up amongst those conservative christian types and they made me actually insane and I've practiced actual witchcraft, or at least though I did while insane, but I dress conservatively. For me it just seems like "well okay" when I see flagrant use of the satanic stuff, like, are you more advanced than me or just more ready to wear whatever you want, I don't want to assume.
Anyways, I get what you mean there's defo anti-black and brown sentiment that exists in emo stuff but you shouldn't feel defined by it. There are lots of people out there trying to reclaim the style who are of darker skintones if you're interested.

I don't know why trans folks do it, but I was a goth pre transition and it's because I had no fucking sense of style as a man and zero passion for men's clothes. It was an easy archetype to slip into without worrying about stuff I didn't care about. It wasn't until I trooned out that I started finding my own style
