You know why, which is why you made this thread. It's because on some level you associate horses and liking horses with something feminine. Now you're posting about it, probably on some level wanting to get fembrain validation.
In reality men have also obsessed over horses and their details for millennia, capturing it in sculptures and paintings. The male obsession with horses predates the modern culture of feminine horse fascination, and still exists to this day.
To some extent your motives are understandable, you want the validation, but on the other hand, you're thinking too deeply on it.

That's incorrect. It's still very much male dominated, but in the arts, sciences, and in sports. In history women were allowed to sit on horses, it's only in recent pre-modern history that norms were introduced that you're referring to. They did not last very long.
In all coed classes we only had one or two girls actually into horses which didn't last for long. While most modern men are now socialized to only do video games, the fact is that out of those that grow out of it, most still go on to classic interests like art and equestrianism, whether through art, farms, racing or other related pursuits.
