For a category of people, using Linux is about being a contrarian and wanting to be different. To them, it's not about exploring, understanding and appreciating the technology. It's the postmark of an annoying hipster who wants to be go against the grain just because they want to have some fake air of superiority or to feel unbounded from the zeitgeist. It doesn't mean they can or will understand it.
Being trans/queer is sometimes like the human equivalent of that. That's why so many trannies and queers are annoying contrarians who also use Linux.
