since any of you are not having children, what do you hope to accomplish in life, and for what?

I just be living, but I do wanna develop softwares for medical purposes. I work as an IT in some clinics and I think those softwares could be so much better, I think this would help people in general.

because I've seen and felt what it means for those places to exist. for some people it's the only place where they can be themselves - without cameras and behind a strict door policy.
I wanna keep this tradition going and carry the spirit into the younger generation.
I also love the music, building a community and I'm good at putting on a show (lighting, decor, booking, etc.)
All I need is funds and other people that I can team up with.

I just started my Master's in genetics. I want to get a PhD and then develop or contribute to the development and acceptance of genetic modification in human beings. Medically, specifically, at least to start.

As a pet project, I'd like to develop or contribute to the development of gene-therapy based cosmetic alterations. Something like a viroparticle mediated topical scalp treatment that changes hair color. Set up a home laboratory, play god a little. The lab I'm working in has some strains of immortalized human follicle-producing cells in the freezer but I don't think they'd like it if I took them out to play with them, haha.

Also, I want to fall in love.

Thanks! Good luck with school! Bacterial genetics are a lot of fun, if you get time in the wet lab I'm sure you'll love working with them. I did my undergraduate thesis on acquired antibiotic resistance in bacillus and it involved some plasmid work so I can totally empathize with the enthusiasm : )
Expressing GFP in various bits of cells is a very common thing for biochem/mcdb labs to have you do, so you'll almost definitely get to do it eventually. Here're some of mine from a few years back!
Sorry to give advice unasked for, but if you're not with a laboratory right now, look for programs with your university - or, if none exist, cold email some of your biology professors - that will place you in a lab as a research intern. Not only is it super fun, you'll learn really quickly in a practical environment, and prior lab experience is a must for a grad school application/resume. Can't recommend it enough.

My ultimate goal is to go to grad school and to get a PhD, this school year- in particular my winter quarter -I hit a bit of a rough patch where I kinda shut down due to a nasty bout of dysphoria/depression(was trying repress again lol) and failed like all my classes for that quarter ;-;, luckily though I'm back on track now with the help of a good friend, my school lets me retake those courses with the new grades being the ones that are used for my gpa(still have the old ones on transcript though), also plan on finally starting hrt this summer amd am starting better habits ie more exercise, better skincare etc., I really want to go to grad school and am now working hard to try and make it happen, I'm hoping that an overall okay gpa along with strong upward momentum along with good research experience will get me there, fingers crossed

idk how american phd programmes work but in europe usually you apply for projects which have already been selected for funding, excepting certain programmes, so having a basic level of ability and a good amount of persistence in applying for them, showing interest in your subject and getting on your professors' good side is helpful. asking about shadowing or getting lab experience is a good idea, most undergrad's biggest problem is not listening and not being good in the lab. also burger phds are absurdly long so make sure you meet the team before you take a spot

I have a child. That is my job for now, albeit with assistance.

I also do volunteer work for a Buddhist center. I used to do other volunteer work but don't have the time right now.

Maybe when kiddo(s) is grown I'll make art again, or work with animals, or something. I want to go to library school when she's in kindergarten but I sadly don't know if I'm going to be able to make that work. I think it will be enough if I stay poor forever if she is able to live a life with some fulfillment in it and is adaptable and resilient and loved.
