struggling with very bad issues and i suspect i have at least 1 mental illness on top of all the trans stuff and so far my therapist doesnt give me any excercises or more homeworky stuff and just talks to me. is there anything BESIDES MEDS AND TALKING that therapy can offer?? i read that for schizophrenics they make them write down affirmations i thought this would be like that a bit. maybe talking will work but im also worried about going too far and getting sent to jail or for questioning if i talk about the violent stuff. havent been diagnosed out of fear of it costing me rights or getting treated like an even bigger freak and forever being ashamed im a pooner plus a mental patient

my mom just always told me i have nothing so i never got diagnosed in fact she doesnt even know im going to therapy and she'd probably get mad at me for talking about her. i have symptoms for a lot of things like OCD, and some sort of aspergers or autism or something like that, my friends have said i sound paranoid/schizophrenic sometimes but i doubt thats it since its just one symptom. maybe bpd but i dont really match that and i also would hate if i turn out to have it since its so fembrained. i have violent attacks of anger too and intrusive thoughts on top. just a slurry of shit thats been building up ever since i was a kid

psychologists have decent understanding of the brain and mental disorders and aren't just doing some "holistic" approach wher they ask u do you wanna kill yourself oh you have thoughts oh do you have weapons oh do you have pills yes I have medication no im not retarded no im not going to try to overdose on OTCs was i holding the pills in my hand WHY DOES THAT MATTER AND NO JUST SAYING PEOPLE HERE ARE HERE TO HELP AND CARE ABOUT ME THATS IRRELEVANT the issue is something that doens't have a solution which is what most people through their fortunate ignorance can't comprehend it seems so the only point in going there would be to get a diagnosis of mental illnesses to hang up in my room

well even if you can't get rid of the illness you can still get advice on how to have a decent life despite it. but if you don't want a decent life then that's okay no amount of anything will help. but there are ways out and psychologists can sometimes be helpful giving directions.

i agree though counselors and licensed therapists aren't very helpful for ppl w actual issues imo

Besides the psychiatrist and the therapist you can go to a neurologist to do a total briefing about your mental health and mental function, it also helps with the therapy and the psychiatrist since they will have a documentation on your mind.

It's basically 8 sessions of test that will include a IQ test, memory test, attention test, executive functions test and a personality test. It's super chill, just do it. It's very helpful

Yes, it did help, but only when I knew I could fire a therapist if they were unhelpful, 2) knew roughly what my dx was and went in explicitly looking for therapy to deal with that, 3) no longer had a parent hovering and calling my therapist and sitting in, trying to cover up that they were abusing me.

>maybe bpd but i dont really match that and i also would hate if i turn out to have it since its so fembrained.
for the record, plenty of cis guys have BPD. it just manifests differently because abuse dynamics can be different with boys vs girls, and they've been trained to respond to emotions and attachment problems in different ways.

i just have a problem trusting people is all which is justified imo. and i act creepy out of stupidity most of the time. but thanks.
with so many problems i dont think i can know even roughly what i have. my parents arent hovering over me though. im mostly scared of the only solution being meds im actually terrified of drugs that change my state of mind whatsoever and i feel impure if i take them

no, I have autism and the double empathy problem makes neurotypical therapists exhausting to deal with. I don't want to pay to be misunderstood anymore.

Going to a therapist helped me get referred for an ADHD diagnosis and some meds which help me with task completion.
>im also worried about going too far and getting sent to jail or for questioning if i talk about the violent stuff
I've told my therapists all my shit and they can't do anything about it because it doesn't involve active plans to hurt someone else. You can share violent thoughts, just not plans.
>havent been diagnosed out of fear of it costing me rights or getting treated like an even bigger freak and forever being ashamed im a pooner plus a mental patient
Your best bet is getting diagnosed if you want specialized meds or therapy. You don't have to hang out with people who treat you like a freak.

therapy is a meme unless your giganormie

take your meds (and actually work on getting through your problems internally etc; they should just make it easier for you to make progress because things can be toned down a little; avoid **ri's)

Therapists are only good for venting and talking through hard experiences you can't trust your friends with. If you are seeing a therapist to "fix" yourself then you're missing the point and wasting your time and money

I haven't gotten much out of therapy myself. They almost never gave me "homework" and would only listen to me and not give me much insight or advice. Maybe its to do with how my issues are like but I would've wanted someone to give me some kind of answer or advice. Some people overestimate the amount of actual good therapists out there, but if its accessible to you I think it could potentially be worth it. You might need to see someone with the specific kind of treatment you would need and not the generic kind who just talks with you and tells you to think positibely. Good luck anon
