How do I fix my fucking agp curls? The only way they look presentable is if I tie them up and even then I have Lily Tino’s face so my side profile is fucking horrendous. If I have them down I also look like Lily Tino.

I’ve spent the whole day crying and cutting in my room because I’m too scared to leave on the off chance one of my housemates sees me. I’m so fucking ugly no matter what I do.

Hey idiot. I’ve tried that. I’ve done CGM. I’ve seen stylists. I’ve tried multiple mousses, gels and assorted liquids. I use leave in conditioner. I wash very regularly (twice a week). Maybe don’t be a jerk and make assumptions. It’s not that hard.

no sorry i live in melbourne and we have extremely soft water so we have the opposite problem. i do know you want to do a chelating treatment twice a month to once a week to eliminate mineral build up and apple cider vinegar shampoos are good for that, they have a cheap apple cider vinegar shampoo from Aveeno at chemist warehouse and everywhere else its 20 bucks but you use it once a week to once every other week so it lasts forever. Start with that while you research hard water shampoos and conditioners for daily use because they don't really sell them in melbourne becuase its not relevant. Don't use it everyday or you will nuke your hair

have u tried waves? you mentioned that straightening makes your hair look flat but you could try beach waves / loose curls after straightening to get some of that volume back. also you can clip your bangs after straightening for more volume (similar to what many asian girls do)

1. what curl type do you have? most people have a mix of course, so just give me a general range. also curl type is not the end all be all for what kinds of hair products to use, but it's a good starting benchmark, as some products for tighter curls can sometimes be too heavy for wavy hair
2. does your hair tend to get wet quickly and dry fast or the other way around? does it get greasy easily or does it tend towards frizz?
3. what's your current routine?
4. people usually combine fine/thin and coarse/thick, because they do pair together pretty often, but they actually are distinct, so what's the density of your hair (thin or thick) and what's the general strand size (coarse or fine). you can have fine but dense hair for example
btw when it comes to CGM, i would recommend against it. especially stuff like co-washing. it kind of came in a different time period, where curly haircare was less mainstream than it is now, and a lot of the shampoos were too stripping. it was also primarily meant for people with tighter, coarse, frizzy textures, still paired with shampooing.

but again you should do research for daily drivers for hard water, probably very light type of product as your water is already adding mineral and limescale to your hair which dries it out and weighs it down. You can check the skinsafe website and look at products that don't have 10 tonnes of bullshit in them to get ideas maybe.

All my curls are somewhere within the 2C - 3C range.
2. My hair is very low porosity. Takes forever to get wet and stays like that for a while.
3. Wash twice a week, alternating between the clarifying shampoo I posted already and a regular silicone/surface free conditioner. I condition every time I shower and detangle my hair after I rinse the conditioner out. I follow it up with a leave in conditioner once I’m out and I don’t bother touching it at all until it’s dry and even then, that’s usually only to tie it up.
4. I have thick, fine hair.

wow we have extremely similar kinds of hair so i'll just give you my current routine and advice that has worked for me, hope it helps
1. detangle before shampooing with conditioner, i detangle with fingers instead of a brush, but you can skip this if you don't feel like your hair gets matted from shampooing
2. i wash once a week, i'm always rotating through sulfate-free shampoos, but it doesn't seem to matter too much which one specifically. currently using Carol's Daughter Coco Creme shampoo and it looks good.
desu i would recommend a clarifying shampoo with sulfates, fine hair especially tends to get weighed down by build up. i use Suave Daily Clarifying and it's like 2 bucks for a bucket. also if you don't already double cleanse, i would recommend it, or even using a tinge of clarifying shampoo on non-clarifying days. don't be scared of sulfates, even for non-clarifying shampoos
3. Not Your Mother's Curl Talk conditioner. protein heavy conditioners >>>
4. I sometimes use a deep conditioner on clarifying days, i like Rizo's a bunch, but it is a lil pricey
when you put conditioner in your hair, make sure to squish in a TON of water instead of just raking your hands through. like stand underneath the showerhead a little bit, not enough that you're washing away all the conditioner immediately, but to be able to squish in water

post shower:
rake your fingers through it to apply product, this single thing was legit the biggest game changer ever for me. i use to just lightly pat leave in over my hair because i didn't want to "disturb" it but seriously just raking product through and scrunching makes a massive difference. my leave in is Miss Jessie's
invest in a curl cream, would recommend Not Your Mother's as well. do the same raking through. when you rake your fingers through your hair, rake upwards, it helps with volume
i've never had any good experience with gels, it kills ALL my volume. and keeps it perma-wet. use only a TINY bit of mousse and avoid oils

get a diffuser. you don't have to diffuse to fully dry, i never do. usually i do like 20-30mins alternating between low/medium heat and low speed
do pixie diffusing and make sure you turn off the diffuser between sections. i don't ever section my hair or any of that shit i just diffuse random sections and scroll on my phone in the meanwhile lol

i realize this sounds like a lot but i wash it like once a week and don't do anything at all between washes except make sure to sleep on satin pillowcases i got for like 4 bucks. i don't even do any shit to it in the mornings in between

try the following
shampoo
no conditioner
press a towel gently without rubbing in your hair to get rid of some water
brush your hair when still wet
rub and shake your hair a bit
blow your hair dry with a diffuser and no heat or let it air dry if you dont have one

Girl I'm so sorry and I know EXACTLY the feeling :(

Color Wow Supernatural Spray Dream Coat is my rec. Saturate your hair in the dream coat spray, section, and blow dry with a focus nozzle and a brush.

How to use:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io3NUfk8tQQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWPnv4yOT6k

My one piece of advice to my past self is do NOT listen to the curly girl honscience. Cis women give you terrible advice about curls because THEY still look like women even when their hair is unruly and gigantic, and THEY don’t have to worry about going around with a giant male forehead with square corners and isolated dr seuss looking gleaming bouncy fiesta coils springing up here and there.

You’re allowed to trust your OWN feelings about beauty. If you walk out of the curly bar telling yourself you’ll “get used to” it and then you go home and cry and think about killing yourself, then maybe YOU’RE RIGHT and THEY’RE WRONG. The hon enforcement crowd wants you to look like weird al because they mean well and that’s the best they can imagine for you, but if your gut says it’s wrong, maybe it knows you can actually look good.

curly hair is, on average, drier than straight hair because the shape of the hair strand means oil doesn't travel as far down. conditioner helps your hair look softer and less frizzy. it also helps it from getting tangled
i can't imagine there's anyone with curly hair whose hair looks better using no conditioner, unless you mean like that 2a-ish hair type that you mostly see in white people where it always has a sheen to it

conditioner is needed for basically 2 things, it coats your hair with a protective layer and help to prevent damage, and it makes already damaged hair manageable
its not strictly necessary
it also weigh your hair down and make you lose volume, the finer your hair is the more obvious it gets, specially if there is a ton of build up

i have fine hair that looks atrocious without conditioner because it becomes the texture of straw. just clarify if there's build-up
i guess someone could forego it if they have low density, greasy 2a/2b hair, but i have a fundamentally different texture. my hair basically never looks greasy no matter what

my hair is not damaged, it might just be more textured than your hair is and very dry naturally
and yes conditioner will always cause build-up, some build-up is fine, just clarify if it's starting to get weighed down. not sure if you're retarded and couldn't tell that i meant "if there's visibly filthy looking build-up, you should clarify." are you dumb?
if you're telling people with curly hair to not use conditioner, you must not understand that your hair type is not the only one that exists
