That isn't surprising at all. The majority of American Muslims come to America specifically because they want to live in a more liberal, secular culture rather than a society dominated by Islam. They're like the Muslim equivalent of "Easter and Christmas" Christians. Whereas evangelical megachurch Christians are firmly in their element, seeking out and creating Christian-dominant communities, and trying to take over the political system

However, it should still go without saying that cultures where Islam reigns supreme are generally still a lot harder on gays than cultures where Christianity reigns supreme. And Europe is having a somewhat tougher culture clash with Muslim refugee communities who fled to the West than America is with Muslim immigrants who specifically wanted to live in the West
