I kinda agree but also disagree. There's a difference between a woman who simply enjoys being a woman in sexual contexts and a woman who has a full-on autoerotic self-centered fantasy about how feminine she is or might be.
If you go by pro-blanchardism research, where they gave original AGP questionnaires to males, females and male crossdressers (NOT transgender women), you can make an assumption that the rate of AGP in females must be at least 10%. Reasoning behind this is that AGP trannies typically score ~5 and there was about 10% of females who scored 5 or more. If you were to include females who scored 3 or 4, you could expect even 20% females to be AGP and no one even gives a fuck. But what's also interesting is that theres also a noticeable minority of "normal" males who seem to have AGP.
Now, if we take a while to think what can cause actual AGP in females, we can find certain hypotheses:
1. Body dysmorphia. Autoerotism is a proven coping mechanism. It probably woundn't be too suprising that a woman who doesnt like her body may fantasize about a prettier, more feminine version of it.
2. Repressed sexual interest in women
3. Other autoerotic fetishes, for instance exhibitionism, which often develops in females as a result of porn consumption and/or need for external validation
Now, if you think about it, you can realise that reasons 1 and 3 are things that are way more common to occur in trans women than in cis women. Also, you can even add the reason 4 that would be exclusive to trans women, which is, being starved from femininity and using sex as an outlet for it. And you get to the conclusion that for a lot of transgender women who would be classified as AGP, AGP isn't actually the root cause of gender dysphoria. But for some it might actually be the root cause, I don't know.
AGP is something that can develop in all sorts of people for a variety of reasons.
