Really just avoid the worst examples you see where everything is dark AF, entirely in shadows. So, no backlighting, use natural outdoor light, facing the light, etc. If you do a bedroom or interior shot, make sure the place is cleaned up a bit, maybe I'm ocd but when I see filth everywhere its a turnoff and red flag.
