How long did u guys wait after realising u were trans to actually take HRT?

Im scared its just a phase and ill get over it but also scared if i wait too long ill never be able to properly troon without looking like a balding ogre. Im 18 RN and have known for like 3 months maybe more idk havent kept track much.

I spent years thinking about transitioning and considering getting on estrogen and stuff, but I didn't think I was actually trans. I thought I just wanted to be a woman and I'd only be trans if I actually transitioned
then eventually I had a mental breakdown and realized I was trans no matter what and ordered diy the next day

4 years but only because I realized at 14 and hrt as a minor requires consent from both parents in my state, and my father refused despite my mother being more than willing to go through everything to get me a gd diagnosis. I wasn't aware of DIY at the time, and that was the worst period of my life because I was forced to watch myself masculinize and had to repress myself, I lost basically the entirety of my adolescence and regret the time wasted every day.

If you think you are trans nona you should go for it, the sooner the better, and 18 is honestly one of the best times to start if you arent in uni or an established career because you can fully devote your time to transitioning.

Also to add you should have a several month window to determine if it is right for you without any permanent/harmful affects, especially if you start on a lower dose, which is why alot of doctors like to hondose for the first few months to years. The first really noticeable changes are breast growth which shouldn't develop as anything more than minor gyno for a few months (im 4 in and don't have much aside from like a handful of tiddy) and the emotional changes, which are rarely discussed here but arguably as important for relieving dysphoria as the physical ones are, and are of course reversible. Libido will decrease too but again, that is also reversible.
