The political landscape would be much more sane and functional, and far less polluted by stupidity and misinformation, if the average person focused only on the political issues that directly affect them. If there's a topic that you only hear about on the news, if you have to get all of your information on it secondhand, you should probably just ignore it and leave the discussion up to people who are actually directly affected by it

Medical care for trans people existed long before the current political obsession with trannies. It's actually much more in jeopardy now BECAUSE it's a massive political issue, and before it was treated more as a personal/medical issue that wasn't discussed nearly as much outside of the people directly involved or affected by it
