I love my bf, but I'm noticing more and more our age gap
He's 21, I'm 26
Which isn't a terrible age gap, but there's a lot of self exploration and maturing that happens in your early/mid 20s
He's at that age where you start to figure out who you are as a person and wants to go on big adventures like backpacking across the US
But I'm much more mellowed out and the thought of him being away for a month makes me really sad. I just want a comfy relationship where we share each other's lives
I don't blame him, I did something similar at that age, but I was also single and had no ties to anyone other than family
I just hope our relationship is fulfilling to him. I don't want to hold him back from getting the experiences he wants but getting what I want out of the relationship would mean holding him back

Lately it's been hard to speak with him about relationship stuff because of our conflicting schedules
He works nights and his days off are in the middle of the week. I work a m-f 9-5
So the only times I see him when he isn't tired are when I come home tired and just want to cuddle and chill

It sounds like you could both use an adventure. Unless he's determined to do it on his own you should do the cross-country trip with him. 26 is too young to be set in your ways and feel like you've already seen it all
